Decent Drugstore e/s colors

So, While I've been setting aside some money (saving up for a haul

)
I do need something to tide me over until I finally splurge.

The little bit of make-up that I have at the moment just isn't doing it for me. Some unknown brand called, er, TWC? Wipes off, even after Primer and Paint Pot base. Just plain poor quality.

I've been browsing the drugstore lines for a bit, but because I'm so stingjy with my money I've been hesitant to buy, so I waddled in here for recommendations! LOL.

So, anyone?

I'm looking for some decent black, brown and highlight colors.

I've looked at L'Oreal's HIP line, and as much as I want to try them out, I might as well just go spend my money on MAC for an extra couple of bucks.

(We don't have NYX were I live, just to note.)

Yeah I agree about the Loreal HIP....they are really nice but expensive...But they are a great deal when you catch the Buy One Get One Free Specials which CVS and Walgreens run all the time.

I am editing this...I fine HIP duos ...Horrid.....However I do like the Revlon mattes

I like Jane e/s, they are pretty good quality for drugstore. Milani is great too, and both fit into MAC palettes. My fave drugstore highlighter is Jane's Hip Bone, it is a great matte white!

you could try wet n wild eyeshadows, some may be a bit chalky but the color payoff is good. revlon colorstay quads are also really good (a bit pricier)

Maybelline has new eyequads that are really nice, not the same consistency that they used to have. I picked up one called amethyst smokes, the shadows feel/look beautiful, for 6 bucks they are a good buy.

one of my favorite matte browns ever was actually a Cover Girl shadow in brown smoulder i believe...one of my faves. a good cheap black is NYX's Black. i use it every day to set my eyeliner, fill my brows, and line my upper lash line.

Hmm I find alot of L'Oreal's stuff to be pretty overpriced too..:S Especially here in Canada at 11 dollars + 13% tax. X_x. They're not that pigmented too to be honest...kind of chalky when I swatched a few at SDM. You can try Milani or LA Colors..or NYX, which is ALOT cheaper and is a great dupe for MAC.

You can also try Revlon's Quads, I have the one in Copper Spice and it's great! ^^

I don't know if you have access to Annabelle (Canadian brand), but the eyeshadows are really pigmented, they have a wide range of colors, and the pans fit MAC palettes. They do a black e/s that's supposed to rival Carbon. Their pigments are amazing as well!

Yeah Walgreenn/Rite aid have them BOGO sometimes.
Also, you can check out ebay.. some sellers sell these e/s in lots for a cheaper price.

I see there are a few votes for Jane eye shadows up there and I agree. Many of the Jane e/s are very usable.

I bought liquid liner from them that peels off the second it dries. And two brushes that fell apart. I wouldn't recommend them

Get the Wet N Wild Sand Castle palette! Mine is fantastic and i got it on sale for $2 - it's got about 8 shadows (2 are kinda glittery so i dont like them) but the others are great, richly pigmented, last well - you wont be wasting your money

Here's some recommendations:

Highlight colour - If you can get hold of it I really recommend Boots 17 Eyeshadow in 'Ivory Coast', it is a little shimmery in the pan but goes on matte, it's a light buttercreamy sort of colour!

Brown - Bourjois Single Shadow in 'Marron Glace' this is pretty similar to 'Woodwinked' by MAC

Black - If you can get hold of it, Sleek's Eye Dust (i can't remember the name

) but the black one. It's super easy to blend and very cheap!

I hope this helps a little

I was gonna say Annabelle too! I love the shadows, the color payoff is great and it blends really easily for me. Plus, I got them on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart for $3 which isn't bad at all.

Jane makes a lot of nice, wearable products at a decent price. I have a few of their eyeshadows that I really like, their mascara is okay, and I love their lipsticks in the blue bullet packaging! Somewhat sheer and great colors.

Wet n' Wild is hit or miss, but depending on what you want, they're either ace or "work in a pinch" stuff. Their creamshadow palettes can make nice bases; just use a good primer, then a small amount of the cream shadow and blend it in really well. Their nailpolishes aren't astounding, but I have a clear polish from them that I like. Their lipsticks can feel kind of hard and "plasticy," but they're worth every penny if you're willing to smash them up in a palette if necessary. I hate their skin products, especially their foundation, but it may work if you have super-dry skin and want something with a little oily.

E.L.F is also hit or miss. I really like their opaque glosses, their pressed powder, and some of their brushes, namely the ones from the studio line, which I don't own but have tested out thanks to a few friends. Shimmering facial whips make great blushes! Their eyeliners are creamy enough, but the color fades easily, their blushes are pretty but prone to breaking, most of their lipsticks have crappy color payoff. I avoid their foundation and concealer like the plague. I haven't tried their palettes, but lots of people here use them for their depots, and I really want to try a few more things from their studio/mineral lines, as I've heard good things.

Bon-bons makes cute, cheap, and girly products in "tester" sizes. I don't own much of their stuff, because...well, surprisingly, I'm not hyper-girly. :p But they make these tubes of shimmery white cream shadow that I like to stock up on and use as bases for my shiney looks.

Milani makes good eyeshadows, although I won't buy them unless there's a BOGO going on.

L'oreal IS over-priced, but the HIP black mascara is AWESOME.

It's a shame you don't have NYX at any of your drug stores, because they really do make good products, especially when it comes to lippies.
