Makeupalley.com has great reviews for sunscreens in the Productville section. Personally, I really like Ocean Potion's Anti-Aging sunscreens in SPF 30 and also in SPF 50. It smells like creamsicles and makes you a bit shiny but not sticky. Neutrogena's Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch is ok, but it tends to leave my face feeling greasy on top of looking greasy.

Both are photostable and use avobenzone as their main ingredient (aka Parsol 1789). It effectively blocks UVB rays and offers partial protection against UVA rays. Both are affordable, $4-$8, so don't be shy about slathering on your arms, hands, and neck as well as your face.

If you want top of the line sunscreens that are incredible and will not leave you shiny/gray/broken out, you'll have to pay upwards of $30 a bottle (most European and Asian sunscreens are examples of such). Lines like La Mer, Shiseido, Clarins, La Roche Posay, Skinceuticals. If the FDA would just approve Mexoryl (the only known sunscreen ingredient that can effectively block both UVA and UVB rays), we'd also have access to the same kind of suncreens.

And if your skin is oily like mine, nearly all sunscreens will make your skin looks very very shiny even if they claim to dry to a matte finish, so I use oil blotting sheets to soak up oil after the sunscreen sets. Boscia makes great "blotting linens," and Clean and Clear is another good brand. Blot, then set with a colorless powder for a matte, protected face.

Ooh, thankyou soo much for taking the time to write all that! I think i'll probably look for one of the European or Asian sunscreens you mentioned. I want to protect against UVB, but also don't want to become tan so they sound ideal! Thankyou again x
