Do you ever feel that paint pots are useless?

I only have 3 of them because I just don't love them. I have found that I have to apply a really sheer layer to prevent them from creasing and in the process lose all of the color payoff. It's frustrating to use a colored base that you have to apply so thinly that you lose the color. So I ask myself why am I even using it? I could just go with a color-less base. Does anyone understand what I mean?

I can't use them as a base either. I put them over UDPP, and use just enough to see the color, then put the shadow over it.

Personally, I love paint pots! I don't cake them on but neither do I appply them thinly and they never seem to crease on me! I don't leave home without wearing one!

I love mixing up the colours and how they make my shadows look more shiney/metallic. I love 'Constructivist' pp the most! It's awesome!

Have you tried the paints? They go on a bit thicker anyways..

I've found you definitely cannot dip your brush crazily into it, it creases on me then. But I swipe I'd say two swipes over the top of my pp, then apply to lid, leave eye closed for a few seconds then its drier and no problems. I've found Fresco Rose kicks up pinks fast with the way I apply it, no need to apply more than one layer of pp.

Which colours do you own Aziajs? I've found some to be drier than others and that makes application hard (hard to just get a bit on the brush). I've found Fresco Rose, Layin Low, and Rubenesque to be pretty good, I just "broke" the harder layer of Perky so I think that'll be nice and creamy. I've found the newer ones to be much creamier (though Soft Ochre wasn't as smooth as I wanted when I tested it).

Ex. I found delft and artifact to be a little tougher for me to smooth on.

Really??

I am so gaga over paintpots
I only have three too but I just started recently acquiring them. I use a lot of golds and teals so Cash Flow and Frolickin are sooooo perfect for me.
They just intensify the colour and I've never had an issue with them as far as creasing goes (I use the 242 to apply them). I HAVE to use them.
Its the paints that I'm not a huge fan of thank goodness I only have two

I love p/ps but I do have to use them over UDPP OR TFES Insurance for the no creasing and color payoff. I like paints too and they give better color pay off but I wish paints were in a jar instead of a tube.

I feel the same...I bought my first paint pot, Cash Flow, and every time I use it and try to put shadows over it I get frustrated and grab my Shadow Insurance instead. I mean, I'll still use it...last Friday I forgot all my brushes and stuff at home so I did a nice look using only my fingers with Cash Flow and Too Faced Galaxy Glam Shooting Star eye shadow haha. It lasted all day I only used it above the crease.

You have to keep in mind though that p/ps and paints do NOT work for everyone because some might have oily lids and others normal to dry.
I think paints are good for oily lids and p/p's for normal or dry lids IMO.

I have 1 Paint--Tan Ray--and no PPs. I bought Tan Ray as a primer when I first got into make up. It didn't work for me. For primer, I prefer a 'primer'. For color, I prefer a shadow to do what it's supposed to do or I'll use a shadestick.

I totally agree. Paints still work best for me as a base. I do like paint pots though and I use only a thin layer with application. I've tried UDPP but unfortunately my eyes are seriously sensitive to it- my eyelids get red and irritated

So I stick with p/p and paints.

oh my gosh...so did I (tan ray). And it also didn't work for me. I told the MUA about my oily skin and how I needed a primer and she had me buy that. Needless to say, I went to shadesticks a couple months after, recommended by a wonderful MUA at the MAC Store in Chrisitiana...changed my life.

I also have oily skin and paint pots still aren't that great on me. But Cash Flow is too gorgeous for me to completely bail on.

I adore my paint pots. UDPP is awesome but I love paint pots because of the extra boost to the shadows I get. I never tried a paint in a tube (at least a MAC one) but I just love my P/P's. I only have four and want more but right now the ones I have work great for pretty much all my shadows. They don't crease on me... I wear Greenstroke and lately Nice Vice and Perky alone and they work great.

I got Perky pp and it was like...nothing. I was told I could use it as a shadow. Thats what i planned n doing, seeing as how I don't have the perfect pinky shadow yet. I applied this with and without UDPP and both ways sucked. You couldn't see anything at all. Plus it was dry when I put it on, and it creased at the end of the day. I just didn't see the point.

When i returned it, the MA wasn't very nice. Okay so I applied it with my finger....oh well. I still didn't like it. Don't try to get me to keep it, she wasn't even the one who sold it to me. She was kind of talking down to me. "Oh you were applying it wrong. You were doing something wrong because I put it on this morning and it has lasted me all day." Then I told her I use UDPP and she got mad "Oh don't tell me! I knew you were going to say that" I'm like "Oh I guess you don't like that stuff" and she says "I don'tthink it works any better or worse than paint pots"

Sigh. I'm much happier with my springbean lustreglass

I also prefer the paints to p/p. I only have one p/p and recently learned how to use it so it doens't crease on me. However, I still like paints better since there's more product in the tube.

Okay so perhaps paintpots aren't for you? I LOVE Fresco Rose....seriously MY FAV paint pot, but if they crease on you, then its not so fun.

What I would suggest is do you like bright pink or dark pinks? I'm in LOVE with Neutral Pink from N Collection---seriously this one kicks butt.

Looks killer over Fresco but its too bad the paint pots dont work well for you.
