Do you ever feel that paint pots are useless?

What I would suggest is do you like bright pink or dark pinks? I'm in LOVE with Neutral Pink from N Collection---seriously this one kicks butt.

Looks killer over Fresco but its too bad the paint pots dont work well for you.

I mean, maybe she is right, maybe I shouldn't have used my fingers. Honestly I just feel like I should just have one base. Why spend all that money on paint pots when I have UDPP and it does the same thing? Maybe pp's intensify some colors but it just seems like so much extra work to me.

As far as pinks go, I don't want a hot bright neon pink, but I don't want a really dark maroon pink either. I want just flat out pink. I have this maybelline shade that I was using but I haven't used it in years. I put it on like a month ago, and it was like all sparkle.

Oh, I love paint pots something crazy. Paints were too dry for me, but I love how smoothly paint pots go on and how well they blend. They show up fantastic on me.

Actually, I am always amazed at how people use them as just a base--they're often the whole show for me! Some Cash Flow with Greenstroke accents makes for a -fantastic- dramatic look, or if I'm feeling low-key, I can go with Layin' Low with a little Quite Natural along the lashline. Dramatic or neutral!

Exactly! People just want products to work---without the accompaniment of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. And, we're MU enthusiasts.....Imagine what it must be like for regular people.

I personally love the paint pots! I used to swear by UDPP but that was when only paints were available. Paints were just difficult to apply for me because it came out of a tube (squeeze too much, next time not enough, then definitely too much!). Wasted product like crazy. I had Bare Canvas and Base Light, both of which seemed to mute my shadow rather than make it show like it is in the pan, which UDPP did, or just was too dry for shadow to cling to.

Then came paint pots and the beautiful colours they come in. They were like shadesticks but creamier (in my experience) and just enough colour to use on its own for a great daytime look. I dont' have to worry about wasting product or warming it up much (like shadesticks) and it's easier (imo) to have more than one p/p applied to my lids. I apply with my fingers unless I want precise application. My lids are a bit on the oily side and I have had no trouble w/ creasing, tho maybe a bit of fading.

I guess it really is just dependent on the person, since others have posted paints are wonderful but I can't get them to work for me.

I haven't bought any of them. They look pointless to me, and from what I have heard, don't work well as a base, so what exactly is their use? To me they are just kind of gimmicky. I prefer the Shadesticks and the original Paints.

I have both Paint (tubes) and Paint Pots. As a base, Paints are great. As a wash of colour, I like using Paint Pots.
My eyelids are..funky. The inner corner gets dry, but it's gets oily at the center. If I use Paints without any e/s, it looks really patchy. This is when I use Paint Pots.
IMO, they serve different purpose.
Perky did cause some problems for me, but I love the colour it gives me.

I love my paint pots. Sometimes I use them alone and sometimes with shadow over them. I have very oily eyelids, but I don't have a problem with it creasing as long as I use a brush and let it dry between layers, whether I'm blending colors or just building up one color.

I thought I loved my painterly paint pot. I'd only use UDPP when I was applying pigments wet or using a cream shadow. I never had any problems with creasing, my lids aren't all that oily so I thought it was working out perfectly.

Then the other day I used UDPP on one eye and Painterly on the other and WOW there was a huge difference in pigmentation only after a short while. I never noticed that my colors faded so badly with the paint pot. So needless to say I'm back to using UDPP. I tried applying painterly with udpp underneath but it still made the colors fade. Oh well.

To be honest, I wouldn't use any of the neutral paints or paint pots for anything colourful because I do find they mute the colours. UDPP is definitely better for an all-around base/primer for shadow b/c you don't have to think about what colours being used and whatnot and it does a great job of keeping the shadow true to its colour.

Does anyone understand what I mean?

yeah im not too fond of them either anymore.. my eyelids get all wrinkly and plus, they dry out sooo quickly, ive had to back to mac 2 pretty full paint pots, not buying anymore

Well, I recently bought Soft Ocre paint pot (from the N collection) and overall it's a good product. It's not an absolute necessity to have it, right, but I find it very useful when you're in a rush and want to achieve a nice look in a few minutes. I really like working with my fingers when it comes to blending (as I do with my shade-sticks as well) so I'm quite happy with it, plus the colour of the e/s lasts longer if you put a little bit on the lids before. I haven't tried it as a highlighter yet (near the temples) but it can definitely do the job as well.

The only thing is that the pot itself isn't very convenient when you want to pack your makeup: it's a bit heavy and bigger than other products. I prefer using my shade-sticks so far for nearly the same effect.

I guess most people think they need more than one base to achieve better color payoff when in essence, all you need is one and a well pigmented shadow.

I have Nice Vice and Bare Canvas - very nice for eyeshadow when used as fingerpaint, it never crossed my mind to use a brush with them.
I've heard about paint pots drying out, but so far, hasn't happened with mine.

To be honest with you, I don't love the Paint Pots as well!
When they were first released I thought that my love for the original Paints would come to an end but NO it didn't!

PP crease on my much faster than the Paints, so that's probably the reason why I stick to these lil oozing wonder tubes!

I never feel that way at all. I LOVE my paint pots somethin' fierce. I use them every single day with no issues and will continue to do so until they run out, or MAC stops making them. Viva la Paint pot!!!

Quoted for truth! I'd be lost without my Painterly PP, I use it as a base that really makes my eyeshadow last all day and all night. Blackground is also a hit for a killer smokey eye.
