Do you like how they did smoke signal on her?

I found how popular MAC is in Asia also. However I am not sure why they did the smoke eye on this girl this way: http://www.iswii.net/post/show/486

It seems like the smokey effect disappears when she opens her eyes... How would you do the eyes for this model in the thread?

Thanks!

To be honest I think it looks kind of crappy and not flattering on her, like she was punched in the eyes. Bringing the color a bit higher and blending it upwards would look better.

I agree with Ambi;
I would say more, but it feels a little rude to kind of critique her makeup on a forum when she doesn't know about it.

I agree with the other posters that it would look better how Ambi said, although we realy don't know if she said maybe she didn't want it super dark or whatever. Technically you could have a smokey eye that is about the smudging and lining around the eye not necessarily the shadow as well.

i agree with everyone that they should've pulled the shadow higher it would've made her eye look a lot bigger but i heard that over in asia, they're not into the whole eye dark eye makeup look. I personally love my eye shadows to be a little more out there but since i guess over there they have a diffrent trend?

I'm chinese but i was born and grew up here so i love all our fashion trends. =]

I dislike whatever they used to line the undereye. It just looks bad. I think they shouldn't have blended so far downwards. Maybe using Carbon would look better.

I think "trend" might be the key word to blame. This is in fact a "tutorial" given by a professional MAC artist there at a deparmtnet store. I have not so much problem with her eyes considering the trend look. However I think it can be improved by darkening her eye brow to "balance" her face, and a darker/rosey color for her cheeks!

It could've been better. It MIGHT'VE looked more flattering on someone with a different eyeshape. But to be honest, I agree with Ambi. I've seen better, especially from artists on specktra.

Asian smoky eyes are difficult in my experience because of the hooded shape. I'm asian myself and I'm still perfecting asian smoky eye.

The thing I noticed in the first girl is they didn't do anything beyond her lid itself. The hooded shape covered most of the work. Dark colors on their own on a hooded lid just makes the eye look smaller. The second girl is much better because instead of focusing the dark shade on the lid, it is on the outerhalf of the lid and outer V. By focusing thedarker shade there it helps make asian eyes look rounder. And lastly asian eyelashes stickout straight so getting the nice curled lashes look is not easy either.

I'm not a pro by any means, but this is what I've noticed with myself and friends.

I agree it is a lot more difficult to do a smoky eye on an asian eye. We don't really have a crease (My eyes are flush with my browbone almost) and we don't really have a discernible eyelid fold. So yes, a lot of the time it does look like we've been punched in the eye xD

They could've done her better.. The second girl that RoseME posted looked pretty. They razored her eyebrows??? ehhh no thanks

Her brows did look good though.

well... I can say that I'm thankful for my eyes that aren't "too asian". I sort of have a crease. I have an asian friend who doesn't have a crease and I've done a smokey look on her before. I should've taken pictures

The 1st one looked like it wasn't finished. From what I could see, it didn't appear that the MA used the entire palette.

The 2nd one did look better, because they put makeup on the entire eyelid area. BTW. I recognize that's BB e/s in the 2nd.
