Hey everyone,

I was wondering if you know of any dupes to the MAC 109 brush? I can not afford to spend 30 something dollars on a brush. I am so broke but I really want this brush could you guys please help me shed some of your brilliant light on my makeup infatuation.

Thank you all.

O and P.S. I do not care what brand it is as long as it cheaper than the MAC one.

For a similar size bristle head,
similar (if not softer) softness of bristles ,
equal quality of brush (zero shedding and good density),
and for use as a buffing brush with my Studio Stick foundation,

I use the Everyday Minerals Kabuki to achieve the same effect

$6 for for such a awesome quality brush

Have you tried the flat top buffer brush from Sonia Kashuk's line at target? The shape and density of the brush is slightly different, but it works better than the 109 for foundation, contouring and powder, IMO. Also my 109 is always shedding, and judging by the makeup alley reviews, I am not the only one with this problem.

do you think the 109 is better?
can it get any better than the EDM kabuki?

You know, look at it this way! You always get what you pay for! With brushes, I've spent $100's on brushes that are less quality than those such as MAC or Nars, and in the end I've ended up with $100's of brushes PLUS my MAC ones, so save yourself the time and save up for the 109. It's well worth it and will last you literally YEARS.

well ... 109 is a natural haired brush, EDM is synthetic. if i use the edm brush its with powder foundations. i use the 109 for liquid foundation, highlight, or even blush.

I've never seen a reasonable dupe of the 109. I agree with those who say it is worth saving for.

It really is a wonderful brush.

The 109 wasn't originally made for liquid foundation only. If you look on the MAC site, it says it's made to apply, blend or contour powder products, so yes you can use it with powder. I know ladies that have used the 109 with powder foundation & love it!

I have only used it for liquid foundation so far because I only recently just got it. Because it's so great for both powder & liquid foundation, as well as contouring and blush, it truly is a multi-tasking brush.

If you're really lemming the 109 - I would suggest to just save up for it. There really isn't anything like it in my opinion.

I looove my 109 brush. But honestly it really is just a very long handle baby kabuki brush!!!

But I agree with the others, save up for it! If not, look for a small baby kabuki. The Balm has one for like $10 @ sephora.

Hi,
i joined spektra just to answer this post

I bought the mac 109 recently, then i saw in my local priceline (aussie drugstore) a dupe that was half the price. It was not exact, but its closer than all the ones that have been mentioned. Its the prestige powder brush, the one with the short green handle. i havent washed it yet, but in the plastic brand new, it looks so much like the 109 before washing. (the 109 comes looking quite pathetic, then u wash it and it poufs out) Its got short dense bristle, sheds more than the 109, but its half the price.

its not on the website, but it was promoted with the mineral line. i dont know about the availibilty of this elsewhere.
