Aren't uterine ruptures more likely to happen durin VBACs? My teacher told us about her C-section and how it use to be back in the day, practically impossible to do a VBAC but now there starting to allow it more depending on the woman and situation. But that it does have a bit of a higher risk with uterine ruptures.

Not lucky, just extremely vain. best way to lost baby weight is not to gain it in the first place.

I won't say they're common, but I had other issues that made the risk (as mitigated as it was by modern health care) simply not worth it for me.

Lol very true. I watched a show on tv and they discussed the term, "Eating for two now" when a woman gets pregnant. Besides the cravings, they said that it was not an excuse to go out and eat whatever you want and how ever much you want. Because yeah once the baby comes, and if you've gained too much weight, it'll be hard to get it off.

A womans birth plan is a very very personal choice. There is definately no right or wrong. There are many disadvantages and advantages for c-sections and a vaginal birth. But once you've had one c-section they generally dont reccomend you have a vaginal birth for your next child because it increases your chances of having your uterine rupture. And if you have 4 or 5 kids and you keep reopening that scar.. thats no good at all...

My first born was vaginal and the recovery was very fast. I was a little sore after and i had to do a lot of kegels but my va jay jay looks like it did before giving birth and i dont have to deal with a c-section scar. I did tear a little and everytime i went to pee it burned like hell but... It healed very quickly~ My twins... I dont think i'll have enough energy to push 2 babies out but my plan is to have a vaginal birth again but im very open to the option of having a c-section in the middle of my labor if needed.

Both natural births and c-section births have their own risks. There's a term in the UK for women who opt to have c-section deliveries rather than going through the effort of a natural delivery - it's "too posh to push"

There are some cases when a c-section is medically essential so you won't really get much of a choice. If you're talking about a normal pregnancy then you really need to discuss it in detail with your ob/gyn and reach an informed decision based on the risks and benefits. Nobody can make the decision but you.

Given that you're not even pregnant you have quite a lot of time to be able to research the issues and reach a decision.

Congrats on the twins btw!

How long does it usually take (I know there are a lot of factors to consider) for the vagina to fully heal from vaginal birth?

The friend that I had mentioned, the younger one was still complaining about pain during sex 6 months after she gave birth. Before giving birth she didn't have much of a problem with painful sex. She also said that she ended up getting much more tighter than she was before she even had the baby! Not sure if she did any kegels though, probably not, we were very open in our convo and she never mentioned kegels or any type of vaginal muscle exercise.

I wonder what the statistics and preference is in the U.S and worldwide even.

I feel good that when the time does come if I choose to have children, that I'm able to make the decision myself what I want done if everything goes fine. I like choice, choice is so much better!

Aw thanks doll!!

Mine healed completely in around 4-5 weeks. I hear the average time is 4-6 weeks. I think the doctor tells you can have sex 4 weeks after you give birth.. It does seem like a long time and trust me it is lol. The first 2-3 months after birth i was really tender down there espeically during sex but everything soon returned to normal. My friend... just 2 weeks after she gave birth she told me her and her husband couldnt stand it anymore and they had to do it, it wasnt rough or anything xD and she was fine.

Since i was only 18 years old the first time i gave birth my body bounced back 100% in 3-4 months. I do have some tiger-like stretch marks that faded a little.. Im absolutely terrifed with twins, im so afraid that im going to have this huge pudge tummy with all this extra skin after i give birth just like my mom has...

ive had 3 vaginal births. my first was 30 hours of hell. the other two werent as bad but still painful of course. and my biggest was 10 1bs 2 oz.

my mother had 3 c sections then ended up with a blood clot and still has problems to this day because of it.

from talking to doctors - nowadays they discourage elective c sections. im all for them in people who have a valid medical reason. thats just my op though.

now speaking of this - my 6 year old asked me the other day "momma how did i come out of your belly". i told him i pushed him out. he said "ewwww i bet there was poop all over me". ahh. god love him.

Have you had any more luck with names yet?

Wow 2-4 weeks is pretty quick. I always thought it was more like 3-4 months AT LEAST. I guess it can depend on age and how resilient the person is too, me I'd be going sexless for a while probably. I don't heal well at all with anything

.

Ahh stretchmarks, I haven't ever been pregnant but I got TONS of them. Everywhere but my stomach *knock on wood!* (the back of my calves, my upper thigh area, inner thigh area, and on my sides right by my hip area.) Have you been trying any topical creams or treatments on your belly?

Wow, I'm sorry about what happened with your mom that must be scary!

Yeah both methods of delivery have its pros and cons. Neither one is COMPLETELY safe and there's a lot of factors that play into it. But I can understand why more doctors encourage vaginal deliveries versus C-sections.

Lol, awww that's so cute! Kids say the darnest things haha.

i dont think i would electively get a c-section just because i dont want to go under the knife unless truly necessary. I have about a lil over 5 weeks left to this pregnancy, and all plans are for a natural delivery. However anything can go wrong like she wont turn, or theres a cord being compressed and oxygen levels my go down and i may NEED a c-section so of course my mind is thinking of that as well. just my thoughts on the matter

Ooooo! i see you're due the 27th! My bf's bday is the 28th. I secretly wish he was born on the 27th, as it's my lucky number.

Good luck with the delivery. Hope she comes out on time!

Something I forgot to add the first time around, two of my doctors have been fairly certain that my c-sections are the cause of my IBS.

From my point of view is that a C-cection for no other then medical reasons is for cowards. One simply do not leave a job that one can handle ones self to others.

Besides, newer research from the US tells us that ceaserians are doing bader in life because they have not (letterly) learned that in difficult times there will be light in the tunnel soon.

Besides, there is no rite de passages left in the Western world. And I see my friends there are mothers that there is a difference between those who had C-section and those who actually made it. The last mention is more secure as mothers. they have this feeling over them as they can master everything.

Hard to explain.

Sorry, there is no difference as being secure in being a mother whichever way you gave birth.

Sorry. I'm not less of a mother just because I've never pushed a baby through my vagina.

In fact, I'm fairly certain my kids are smarter 'cause they came out with perfectly round unsquished heads. All that squishing in the birth canal can't be good for those little brains

Yes, I can believe that it's hard to explain something that is completely nonsensical.
