Enough with the Limited Edition already!

its also ironinc that macs LE collections appear to overshaodw its fantastic permenant line products because people are so neurotic about buying up LE items before they sell out.

the term LE no longer denotes its exclusivity and will possibly diminish the effect with people who are catching on to the fact that some colours are too similar to what they already own.

Don't get me wrong, I love certain items in the LE lists, I just don't feel the urge to buy everything in every collection just because MAC lists it as OMGZZZ LE STUFFZZZZZ

Thanks. That's what I'm saying. I don't get all the collections because I don't feel I need EVERYTHING that comes out. That's why alot of people have Swap/Sell lists though. They bought too much of something or never even tried it and are now trying to get rid of it. I mean, as much as I want the Flowering Quad I'm not going to pay more than $5 dollars above the price just because someone's trying to get over. I got a fold-out invite to the Lure event and didn't go and now wish I had the fluidlines and some of the other stuff. I buy according to what I need at the moment, not to one-up someone and be like "Muahaha! I got the last one!" I don't have enough eyelids to wear everything in one day. I'm just saying it's disappointing that when something comes out one day and I'm at work, to get home and it's sold out.

I’m on Specktra to receive help and share information; not brow-beat anyone. Name-calling and finger-pointing is uncalled for. No one should have to explain themselves here. Let’s show some maturity.

Offtopic...sorry, but..
Uhm...am I missing something here? Because in none of the posts I have seen has anyone called the threadmaker a name or chastised her... In fact, the closest thing to namecalling I can see in this thread was when the thread maker herself used the little loser emoticon in a response to someone's post that merely expressed disagreement, not insult her. So unless I'm missing something and someone edited name-calling out of their post, I think we all need to just chill for a second, because the ones accusing others of making a big deal out of things are the ones who are really making a big deal out of things. Offering a differing opinion and chastising someone are different things. Let's not all get carried away here... Now, I'll step off of my soapbox. And I'm not trying to offend anyone either...I just don't think that this needs to escalate in to a fight when I don't think anyone intends to hurt anyone...

And now, to address the topic, I agree with you Indigo...there was pretty much a new collection every other week this summer! All the new LE items is enough to make anyone's head spin, and i know it made me crazy! I missed out on several items that I want now, like Gold Dusk pigment, which is now always over 20 bucks without shipping on ebay and pretty much the same on specktra! Sometimes all of the new LE items make me feel like I'm missing out. I'm not trying to sound whiny, because it's just makeup, but it does kind of stink when there's an item you really really want but can't get because it's sold out!

The only reason I did that was to sort of poke fun at the people who were taking it a little seriously, but there were some people "talking" to me as if I didn't have the common sense to know that MAC is trying to make money. I think the opinion took a smart-alek (?) turn when it was implied that just because someone couldn't get a certain product, that they couldn't afford it. I didn't even bring that up because it's nonsense. Notice I said implied (for the next person who attempts to school me).

The thing is you don't have to buy into that craziness. A quick question for you: Have you contacted MAC's Gone But Not Forgotten program about that palette, if you really want it? I was able to get a hold of a few LE MAC items that way that had sold out. I imagine that you could still get that palette from MAC that way. The other possibility it to see if it's available at the MAC pro site as well. Just because people out there are selling these at outrageous prices, doesn't mean we have to buy them. There are almost always other more reasonable alternatives to eBay.

And back on topic: I now have enough MAC goodies that I don't feel the need to buy from every collection MAC releases anymore, only the items that really appeal to me. So the numerous MAC collection releases don't bother me at all. I don't expect MAC will cut down it's releases of LE items in the future, since it is such a successful marketing practice. The burden then falls on us MAC fanatics to be a little more discriminating in what we buy from them. It's easy for me, all I have to do is look at my traincase and realize that I'm quickly running out of space. So to be practical, I have to be a bit more choosy on what I buy from MAC.

LE bothers me. I'm fine with a few items, but MAC tends to do it in excess lately. I could understand making LE colors people don't normally use or basing it off of some celebrity/movie thing (like how Stila did the Pussy Cat Doll lipsticks a while back), but a lot of it is pointless.

it's not the consumer's fault if mac didn't make enough to go around. MAC should know about supply and demand. All im saying is that if someone can afford to buy 1 or 100 of the item, then why not?

i gotta admit-its really turned me off from MAC a lot.
I dont even look at the LE stuff anymore like I have to have it. I just shrug it off as a "eh whatever" moment. :/
