The only time that that happens in my school is on the night of Sadies... but thats just because its a traditional part of the dance... Wow.

when i was in elementary school, i remember things like that happening. not on a grand level of course, it was like...a paper ring and some freshly picked dandelions. but in highschool?
the closest i've ever seen to that was last year. it was after our big inspection in rotc and we had no more plates so we were eating cake with our hands and i gave a piece to my friend heather...so it kind of looked how a husband and wife do after they get married. it wasn't planned that way though haha it just kind of happened.
other than that, it's just like "marry me?" and then it's like "okay" and BAM you've got a new "wife"...the people at my school are a little on the special side though hahaha ;]
