I also noticed the biggest difference between the 187 from the set and the full size 187. But I still think the set is nice enough for someone who wants a good deal on decent brushes, since the entire set is about the cost of a full-size 187.

Sucks about the bleeding, though! Luckily, I didn't have that problem

And I don't know why I was thinking of the Diana brushes earlier. They were sold individually at the usual prices, not in a set.

I bought all three brush sets this year -they were so cute I had to- I have all but 2 brushes that were in there and I have to say after using them a few times that the short handles are very well made this year so far espically if they have endured travel, my 8 year old niece playing with them, a few washings -the 187 bleed for a few minutes and keep washing it until it stops and its fine and was able to keep the white from going gray.. or I would have been pissed- other then that they are really good.

for those traveling alot or just wanting to save a bit from buying full size brushes, I have to say these are one of the best ones I've seen that mac has made as a set. they arent sheding -only a little bit after first wash- and thats it as far as I can tell, I also keep them in their little sleaves and that keeps them in perfect shape!

if you are able to still find the basic set at the MAC free standing and want to get all 3 sets I would sugest getting the set with the box, because its great for storing all 14 brushes in.

yes, the brushes are still fine to use and seem to be quite good quality for the price. i don't regret buying the sets, but at the same time anyone who does purchase them expecting the same quality/bristles as full size will be disappointed.

I need to bump this thread!

My friend just gave me the 187 from the Face Brush Set and when I cleaned it for the first time it bleeded like the other girls describe it!

But not only that: the white bristles now gathered together and look like little spikes! My FS 187 didnt do that...the write bristles are evenly spaced here!

I need heeelp!

all of my 187s get the white bristles clumping as they dry. once dry, run your fingers over the bristles and they should go back to the way they were. my 187SE is still ok in that respect after several washes.

however, if you're going to use the 187 with an oil based foundation (eg - studio tech) be prepared to get clumped white bristles despite a thorough wash. i'm not sure why, maybe the cleanser isn't getting all of the oil off? i'm still experimenting to see what can get rid of this clumping problem on mine.

I bought the three sets this season and love them, like I mentioned in another thread, they're a great way to test brushes before you get a full size one and I have no complaints regarding the quality.

My SE187 is handling itself just fine, no spike white hairs nothing, I mainly use it with Studio Mist though, whenever I applied Tech, I used the 192.

IMO, its totally worth it to save up and just get the brushes individually. The quality truly doesn't compare except for maybe the foundation brush.
