okay. so yesterday i had the greatest makeover at a mac store. i had scheduled this weeks in advance, as a treat, knowing i'd have to buy 50 dollars worth of stuff.

the ma was great, and i learned a lot from him.

however, when we were done, and it was time for me to decide what i was going to buy, i kinda got caught up in it all, and he kept persuading me to spend a lot more than i had intended.

yes, i can see some of you ma's cringing now...

so, it sucks, cause i spent about 180, but would like to return about 4 things i know i will never use. probably about 50-60 dollars worth of stuff. i know these things will end up in the trash, even though i didn't even open the packaging.

i feel bad, but, i want my money back. should i just suck it up? or risk being a shmucky customer with buyer's remorse?

why not swap it?

this is gonna sound rude, but it does suck to be so easily persuaded (even for the MA) but you should have said no if you knew you weren't gonna use it. call me stupid, but that would have avoided it going into the trash...

Yeah, or if you feel embarrassed about seeing that MA again, go to another MAC store and ask if you can exchange your unwanted products for some other colors you've had your eye on.

All makeup artists hate returns because no matter where you bought it from, it minuses that store's dollars for the day. At my counter, I never push women to buy things they're unsure about because I know they'll end up returning it, which is just a waste of their time and energy and then they won't trust me. Exchanges are no big deal, though. Get something you'll use!!!

i agree with nikkihorror you could go to another counter or just go back to that one maybe it would teach him a lesson for being pushy and learn from this next time only get what you like and will use and if your not sure (and i do this alot) go home and sleep on it and if you still want it you can always go back i try to not make a habit of returning things but shit happens and honestly every time i took something back to mac they were very nice about it and help me pick something else out i didnt realize it was such a big deal untill i joined specktra and it's like why do mu bitch about it it's not costing them and if mac was that concernd wouldnt they change the return policy

Don't feel guilty. Salespeople shouldn't be pushy, because this is what happens. It's called crappy customer service.

It's your money, return it if you want. The sales for the MAC store aren't your responsibility.

Exactly my standing... If you pressure people, first of all they won't trust you and your opinion, and trust is necessary!! If you don't trust me, no matter what I say you won't believe it and I CAN help you with XXX problem that you're having... Second they will return the items which sucks bc I know I HATE returning stuff, it is a hassle, you feel bad, and at the same time you're annoyed that you bought it.

I say swap or sell them, esp if they haven't even been touched!

It's even worse when someone returns something from a different counter. We know they're trying to hide from the store they bought it from and it takes revenue away from a store that had nothing to do with the sale in the first place. Just swap it or something here. It's pretty much the same thing, and you can maybe get something that's super LE or that's really rare

If it's LE and you hang on to it, maybe it will be ultra rare in a while. That way you can either make bank on ebay or find something you might be dying over in the future.

The reason why some SAs are so pushy is b/c of the pressure they are under. Does not make it right, but there will always be pushy salespeople. Just stand your ground and they'll move onto someone else.

Bring it back

And return it with the MA who sold it too you. And tell him WHY your returning it. AKA i knew I didn't want to use it at the time, but you consistantly tried to talk me into it. And after sleeping on it, I know I wont use it, so I'm bringing it back. At that point, dont spend the re-fund on something else, just walk away. Hit him in the wallet, and maybe he'll learn.

And I was sure that used products are sent back to MAC, not put in the trash. So mac probably recycles them somehow I'm sure.

And I wish I could get out only spending 180 lol

Spent 275 yesterday LOL!

Yeah, you're right. Take it back to the guy you bought it from. Afterall, it's his fault, and he needs to learn a lesson!

I wouldn't feel bad about bringing it back. What items are they?

Next time, just say no. Don't let a pushy MA sell you things you don't need or want.
