I just found this thread because I've been having such a time tracking down the whitening collection, and lo and behold, it was available at BG, the day I placed an order with the TF SA with whom I grouped my purchases so as to get the BG gift bag-- and it included items from the whitening collection and the Chanel SAs told him they had "never heard of the whitening collection" and "didn't think they would be getting it."I agree! I think it's juuuust hitting counters now. I am hoping for swatches before I have to make a decision!
I reached out to one of my Chanel counter contacts. She was aware of the collection but said they didn't have a "hard release date."I haven't ordered anything from BG. My local Chanel SA knows nothing about the La Perle collection. :/
Thank you-- I guess Chanel keeps them guessing.I reached out to one of my Chanel counter contacts. She was aware of the collection but said they didn't have a "hard release date."
I personally find that so frustrating, though. They have a pamphlet with dates for releases, yet don't know about this collection. From a consumer standpoint I find it silly to keep us guessing. If you gave me a date, I'd save up and possibly buy more. Spring a random collection on me... Not really a great business model IMHO. Sorry if that sounds grumpy and selfish-- it's past my bedtime and I'm hungry to boot. :haha:Thank you-- I guess Chanel keeps them guessing.
Frankly Lauren, you sound like a makeup addict in need of a fix in the form of Chanel!!!!Sorry if that sounds grumpy and selfish-- it's past my bedtime and I'm hungry to boot.
Yup. Help me help you, beauty industry lolI personally find that so frustrating, though. They have a pamphlet with dates for releases, yet don't know about this collection. You don't sound grumpy to me at all, even if you were feeling a tad grumpy. It's as if the way they do business has not yet caught up with the internet. These high end companies spend IMHO way too much money on (to me) silly films that show how someone would use the products on a model, or even stuff less helpful than that, while ignoring their biggest resource-- blogger and blog audiences who like their products and want information so they can buy. When I see a product on a model it does not sell me on the product because I don't have a model's features and it is not how I will ever wear the product. Swatches, reports from folks here, and blog reviews and a well-informed SA are far more persuasive. Doing your business so that the SA -- the consumer's point of purchase person-- comes off seeming like an ignorant serf waiting for a word from on high-- is foolish. The SAs should be able to speak with knowledge and authority-- that is what helps us and gives us confidence to purchase.Sorry if that sounds grumpy and selfish-- it's past my bedtime and I'm hungry to boot.
Beautiful haul!!!Frankly Lauren, you sound like a makeup addict in need of a fix in the form of Chanel!!!!I get it. I was antsy too and did this:
Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion, Boscia Exfoliating Gel Peel
Givenchy E/S palettes; Impertinece, Tentation, Caresse & Braise
Giorgio Armani Eye Tints 1, 2, 5, 6, and 10 & Lip Maestro,Chinese Lacquer #402 (Orange-Red)
Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème, Arthur (Red) 440
Gorgeous! Enjoy it all!!Frankly Lauren, you sound like a makeup addict in need of a fix in the form of Chanel!!!!I get it. I was antsy too and did this:

It really disappoints me when I go into a store and ask SA's about collections they are unaware of...so many of them just don't seem to care or be interested, it's a nice change when an SA actually does. The majority of the time I feel like - why do I have more passion about your brand than you do? I find it odd that so many of them don't seek out any information online or take an interest. You don't sound grumpy to me at all, even if you were feeling a tad grumpy. I agree with this 1,000%!! I come in to my SA all excited about things I see on here... And show her photos, and she's like "oh we never heard about these." Or doesn't seem excited. Bless her heart, she's so sweet-- but it doesn't get me excited about buying from them. Back home, the Tom Ford SA is so knowledgeable and excited about the products... I love going there to chat and usually end up buying things. She swatched all 50 l&b lipsticks with me because she was equally passionate about TF. It makes me so excited to visit that counter. I wish my local Chanel SAs were like that.It really disappoints me when I go into a store and ask SA's about collections they are unaware of...so many of them just don't seem to care or be interested, it's a nice change when an SA actually does. Even with the basic seasonal collections, I'll go and ask and then they say they are unsure but have training later that week and low and behold the collection is out a few days after I ask. The SA's have no idea what is coming up! The company seems to keep them in the dark until right before the release date. I agree with what you wrote about the SA's - they should know what is happening! It's pretty lame when customers know more about what's coming up than they do (through no fault of their own).
That's a huge pet peeve of mine, especially when they *do* have a booklet with all the dates/products I'm asking about and they're shuffling their feet about it.It really disappoints me when I go into a store and ask SA's about collections they are unaware of...so many of them just don't seem to care or be interested, it's a nice change when an SA actually does. Thanks so much Winthrop!!!Gorgeous! Enjoy it all!!
I deal with a TF SA who lives several states away from me and she calls on a pretty regular basis and has been instrumental in helping me find some of the elusive TF e/s quads. It really disappoints me when I go into a store and ask SA's about collections they are unaware of...so many of them just don't seem to care or be interested, it's a nice change when an SA actually does. I've actually inquired about collections and the SA was clueless and even asked me how I had access to that information. I think some of them are actually kept
in the dark about things but I simply don't understand why. It seems to happen across most of the brands that I purchase. TF would be the exception in my
experience.

I once asked a Guerlain consultant about a collection and she pulled out the booklet and went through it with me and was just incredible. She has a French accent and name, and her service is always impeccable. You can tell she has pride in her work and brand. As for those who shuffle their feet...well they will end up losing sales. I try to go to the SA's who have given me good service in the past to buy as I would rather they get their commission than the ones who aren't particularly nice/helpful.That's a huge pet peeve of mine, especially when they *do* have a booklet with all the dates/products I'm asking about and they're shuffling their feet about it.
Oh Meddy! I love how you have a network of SA sleeper agents!I've actually inquired about collections and the SA was clueless and even asked me how I had access to that information. I think some of them are actually kept

When the SA is knowledgeable and builds relationship, you naturally want to bring your business to them. But they need to be well informed by corporate to supply that kind of service. Maybe it is that TF does a better job of training their folks, because I am having the same experience. My TF SA tried a ton of the Lips and Boys on me and is always trying different products on me, and telling me what is coming up next. And in several different stores, I've had trouble finding a Chanel SA who is well informed. Yesterday I was at BG and Saks and no one was really with it until I saw that an Chanel SA I'd worked with at Bloomies was now at Saks. That is good news as I am often in that neighborhood.Beautiful haul!!!I hope you enjoy these goodies and get to try them soon!!

I totally agree with you both, Tania, and Meddy-- TF has a different approach and I think Chanel needs to change their game. Love the line but their folks seem very clueless. I made about six phone calls trying to track down the two new collex and no one knew about them until I finally got a tip that the Pearl Whitening is at a Chanel boutique. Sadly the cream blush does not appear to be part of it.Oh Meddy! I love how you have a network of SA sleeper agents!
You're the
I think the companies need to get wise to the fact that the internet is distributing a lot of information to customers like us, and it seems silly that consumers are more aware of releases than their own SA's. I feel the SA's should know more than us!! Im getting the impression TF is run differently! I must say I stopped by a TF Counter recently and the service was very good.
