Global warming on Mars.

Sad. I couldn't stand Al Gore until I watched 'An Inconvenient Truth' But it's like we all just stand around and do nothing. We don't care. Everyone, everywhere needs to make changes. I get boiling mad b/c here in CA sooo many dumb guys drive huge lifted trucks just to look cool, and the dumb housewives who have 2 kids and a big ol SUV. But they don't care because it isn't affecting them- yet. Government should step in and lower prices on hybrid cars, build more refueling stations, research new forms of energy, regulate polution, build more sun/water/wind power plants. Anyone who lives in CA can remember the 'rolling blackouts' we had a few years ago. Well, guess what? We all survived and promptly forgot about it. Skin cancer will continue to go up, temperatures will keep rising, and water levels will go up. Maybe then we'll do something! But knowing humans, probably not.

God, I'm such a leftist on this one. Geez. Sorry if I come off strong, I feel passionately about this.

While I beleive we should look towards alternative fuel sources in order to end dependance on other nations' reserves we also have to remember all the people affected by reforms.

The coal miners who are layed off, the factory having to spend millions of dollars more on these new requirements and take a hit, and just the everyday American who's going to fuel their car and wonders why the price went up so much. It isn't just because of market fluctuations or supply and demand. It's also because of new ethanol requirements.

I just don't think we should aim for reform so radically like California has or the large reforms Al Gore inspires. Instead, taking it very slowly as to minimize the impact on America's buisnesses. At least if they were minimal each year they would keep being approved in congress despite the influence of oil and gas companies.

P.S. Nice article! I can't wait for the next 20-40 yrs from now when maybe even Amman could have snow XDDD That would be awesome. Okay. I'll shut up now.

Before I saw the DVD and did some research I thought global warming was just some minor issue trumpeted by the left.

While I realize none of the things I said could be done over night, they certainly could be done faster than they are now. People don't realize that without an ozone layer we can be inside and get skin cancer within minutes. I am not aware of Al Gore's personal habits but because of him more people know about global warming, and changes are slowly beginning and for that reason I like the guy. What's infuriating to me is John Edwards building a 20,000+ square foot house. Who on earth needs all that space??? Lol.

This article is saying that Global warming possibly isnt being created by Humans, but its a solar thing, since Mars has also been experiencing a global warming

What an f-ing hypocrite he is. His electric bill AT ONE OF HIS HOUSES for one month is more than the average household's for a year and he wants to lecture me? Screw that. I am WAY more likely to listen to and take seriously some dude that lives in a tree and really practices what he preaches.

I also like how no one actually wants windmills anywhere. All of these ultra wealthy polite liberal environmentalists with SUVs and 5 mansions don't want to look at them b/c they're ugly. Right now, off of Cape Cod, they're trying to put them up and these wealthy assholes are shrieking b/c they'll "disrupt migratory bird patterns" at sea and b/c they won't be able to have their fabulous views.

And I'm supposed to buy a f-ing Prius and cause an environmental disaster when the battery explodes after I get rear-ended by some turd in a Denali on the BQE. I think not.

Meh. I recycle. I drive a little car with great gas mileage. I have plants in my house. I don't know what Al else wants me to do but I'd appreciate it if he'd man up and tell CHINA TO STOP BURNING COAL.

And everyone should go look up exactly what Al does with his carbon-neutral lifestyle horsesh*t. That entire movie was a promotion for his business which is based off on bleeding-heart guilt. Carbon-neutral companies are modern day indulgences. You can feel warm and cuddley meanwhile Costa Rica is chainsawing trees, China's burning tons of coal, and Indonesia's trying to use its natural resources to industrialize and feed its people. I'd say those are some pretty big "carbon footprints."

Whatever, I'll be dead before it matters anyway. Personally, I'm more concerened about this floating nuclear power plant Russia is planning on building and whether Iran's going to purge the Great Satan and detonate the planet for Allah.

I think the article is pretty interesting, I'd like to read more on it when it develops. I do believe gobal changes (not warming) is happening and I don't think humans are completly responsible but that we are having an impact on what's happening, because you can't not have an impact.

Actually, it's been scientifically proven recently that we humans, are greatly responsible for global warming. And anyone who tries to say otherwise is seriously selfish, and wants to continue living in their day-to-day consumer lifestyle creating garbage for everyone else to smell and breathe. Maybe we won't all be dead when it happens. You'd be surprised at how fast the glaciers are melting, the way polar bears and other various animals are heading towards extinction, how the hurricanes are multiplying, and at how fast Holland is on the verge of being flooded.
It amazes me how some ppl aren't convinced by this. The *earth* is rotting because of this selfish, consumer lifestyle we have all adopted. Is an explosion of some sort what you need to be able to say you'll start making a difference??

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. So it is ok to pollute and screw up the environment if you are rich enough to buy your guilt away? So the people who don't have enough money to buy these credits and can't necessarily afford to participate in all the good Earth friendly activities are left to shoulder the blame for the problem? WTFever.

On an interesting sidenote, I read a comparison the other day about the eco-friendly house GWB has in Crawford and the mansion in question Al Gore has in TN. Night and Day.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.asp

I do the best I can to be environmentally friendly in an attempt to do my part. Lectures from hypocrites have no influence on my habits.

What explains the end of the first ice-age then? Dinosaur greed? Certainly some is related to humans but even Al Gore must acknowledge a fair amount of climate change isn't.

As I said, I do my part. Tiny car, public transporation, recycling. And I'm tired of being blamed for the problem by celebrities and politicians who refuse to acknowledge their lifestyles are far less "carbon neutral" than my own and who refuse to blame developing nations for the role they play in this crisis.

I actually believe the Earth is going through a cycle. It went through global cooling, now it is going through a warming.. you HONESTLY can not expect the planet to stay the same temperature for 1 million years can you? THAT would be naive.....yes I agree Humans are responsible for the amount of trash created and such. I don't believe that we are the ones responsible for ice caps melting, and polar bears becoming extinct due to that.

It's also been proven that breathing causes cancer.

Thank you! Couldn't have said it better myself! I wonder how people who think global warming is totally natural write-off the ever increasing temperature pattern? Or that soon polar bears will be extinct because they have no glaciers to rest on on their long migration? It sickens me to hear people say they don't care or it won't affect them so o well. And what of our kids, our future? Screw it cuz we won't be there! That's so shallow. Who cares??? I do. No earth=no humans.

we're sitting here on computers bitching about global warming?

i can't be the only one who knows how much pollution comes from the production of plastic and all the other components that make up a computer.

doesn't make a whole lot of sense, does it?

i completely agree. the earth went through cycles like this long before humans were around. IMO, global warming is inevitable.
