You and your Mama are in my thoughts and prayers. When my Daddy got so sick and big brother had to haul butt to get up here with no notice to his clients. he was able to telecommute for about 10 days. When he was living in SC for work, and his wife was back at the house he owns, which was about 300 miles, she was able to be one week at the office and one week telecommute from SC. The company she works for allowed this for over a year. Heck at least you aren't quite as bad as me, 2300 miles apart and 700 miles for big brother. Remember to take care of yourself too. Or you will be no use to anyone. Another option might be 4 days where you live, then leave on Thursday night and return super early on Mondays. Daddy did that when we were little and spent summers in Wisconsin, and he was in Chicago. Big makeup hugs to you!!!! Also you might find great resources with members of the church your Mama might attend.YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! SO happy you got the $$$ powder! Sad you didn't knoe about the F&F sale. I wondered where you were.
Taking care of my only living parent, who now has cancer, less than 6 months after I lost my Dad.
I'm an only child.
Yes, look into this. One friend at work uses it in a way you don't expect... she works four days a week and uses the fifth day as FMLA to care for her mother who needs 24 hour care. That day she takes her to doctors, buys food, takes care of her meds, etc. She doesn't get paid for that day but at least she can take care of her mom and her job is secure. Also remember FMLA comes into play if needed. Since you are an only child. If you need info about this, please pm me.
They didn't make her deplete her vacation or sick time...she still has all of that in her bank... She uses 8 hrs/week and that gets her through the year.FMLA requires employers to allow you to use any unused vacation, sick days, then 12 weeks of FMLA which may be used literally in hour increments. After 12 weeks, you may request an extension for another 12 weeks. Obviously no pay, but your job is secure and your benefits remain the same. Daddy working for the govt., I know these laws well......
That is beyond rough, but it's great for her that she has such a devoted daughter to help her through this. I hope you are able to take care of yourself too. Wishing you both the best.

I'm so sorry to hear this, sending hugs.Taking care of my only living parent, who now has cancer, less than 6 months after I lost my Dad. I'm an only child.
This is probably a ridiculous question to this audience, but I wondered just how much you ladies love the holiday pearls. They're not out in Canada yet as far as I know (I keep trying) but I already have the Medium, Crazy and Perles d'Etoiles and these are almost $100 Cdn. Do you see an actual difference with these?

I know how you function Starletta & knew you had your ducks in a row. I know makeup is a great distraction and help, and I hope you have other support systems forThanks, Ash.
Luckily, I'm well-acquainted with FMLA. My job isn't something that I can telecommute from, but I've been working my options to be as flexible as possible. I've been covered so far, but I'm out of everything paid that I have. And since she's stable and between rounds right now, time to go back to work but keep checking on her. Luckily it's a small town and she's been there her whole life so literally everyone's willing to help out.
