with the parents being so "overly sensitive" and not allowing teachers to step in when they see bullying and when they do see it they try to be "sensitive" to them it is only just beginning.

Columbine was the beginning.

What is happening is that we are raising a bunch of children who have no idea how in the hell to handle the real world which is cut throat dog eat dog every man for himself world and the children are being sheltered into thinking its all happy and fluffy and pink clouds and useless crap like that.

They simply do not know how to handle this.

The thing is-we got to remember when columbine happened it was I think I was in 10th-11th grade.

So we're talking about a good 7 years? Maybe more? Maybe it was more recent?

I think any generation after 1985 really began to see the shift in the parenting. So I suspect that even though the suspect was a teacher or an adult if they are about 18-21 they still fall into that category of the "big shift"

It's now been confirmed that one girl has been critically injured and she has been airlifted to hospital. The other is physically unharmed.

I really hope that the injured girl pulls through and makes a full recovery.

i am so sick of this shit in all honest...screw whats politically correct i don't give one shit how much someone was bullied or what not as a youth grow up become a productive part of society lobby for funding to prevent bullying...for heavens sake do anything but go back to school and shoot a bunch of ppl....what makes me so pissed off about these stories is they end up shooting ppl that weren't even involved with their issues

i am so pissed right now

it kind of depresses me how my beloved country is turning into a wasteland for pussies and idiots. kids get bullied, adults get bullied. everyone gets made fun of. everyone makes fun of other people. it's a simple fact; it's part of life. the world isn't made of gumdrops and marshmallows, and people need to learn how to raise their kids to be of stable mind so they can come to terms with that.

"the world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who do nothing." - Albert Einstein

seriously, if this keeps going on, i say arm the damn teachers.

This is sadly happening all around the world....just 2 weeks ago, here in Montreal, a 25 yr-old gun man named Kimveer Gill dressed in a long blck trench coat walked into a school holding 3 guns and just started shooting hysterically at all the panicking students. This happened at Dawson College, situated downtown...He killed one girl (my friend's closest friend, whom I had never met) and wounded many others....The cops were shooting from outside but he then committed suuicide before they got to him....It was such a tragedy...at the girl's funeral, everyone was wearing pink because it was her favorite color...
It's horrible somebody would do this...and there are no words to describe the fear these shootings leave behind.

Guns aren't the problem. The parents are the problem and the school board is the problem. The school board is the one making up all these rules under the pressure of the parents who half of them don't even care about their kids anyway.

It's the parents that pamper their kids, its the parents that sit there and say everything is fluffy when the kids get to school they experience bullying, the parent complains that their little utopia was shattered by the lack of the teachers awareness-the teacher had been trying for half the year to give the parents what was going on then the parents demand that it end and then the bullies get to listen to all this know it was the kid they picked on that said anything and then it gets worse and its enough to drive a kid mad.

This is what happens in our public schools. You will NEVER know it unless you work in it and watch it. It is ridiculous. You say a simple phrase like " Guys, can you keep your voices down" and if a parent hears it they will go to the principal and make it sound like you were holding a gun to their heads.

It's ridiculous. Parent's are the problem. They do NOT take responsibilities for the childs actions. Half they time they don't even give a damn about what the child does.

Now I know there are exceptions and I've been very lucky I had parents who actually cared. I knew many parents who actually cared. But for the most part-they do not care. Their child is perfect.

The US is only as "trigger happy" (I'm referring to civilians here) as much as the world is. We have a right to bare arms and have weapons in our homes. It's in our constitution.

People like to say "Guns kill people we should ban them" well I hate to say it but if someone is crazy enough and hates you enough and they want to kill you they are going to find a way to kill you, be with a gun, a knife, hell they could use a freaking spoon, break your neck anything. So Guns themselves are not the problem. The problem lies in the people.

Do I think we should arm the teachers. No. Many of them would have no idea what to do in a situation like that. I do think there should be some armed but then again you have to have someone who is calm in a storm etc and not have the legalities that we do in our school system.

As for the girls who were sexually assaulted-that sucks. That's the absolute worst. Such a reckless act
