How to cover brows?

So, I've been wanting to try out some more creative looks and a few ideas would require me to cover my eyebrows. The only problem is... I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO IT!! I've searched here and did a bit of looking on youtube, but I didn't find as much I would have liked. I found something about using a glue stick and I was just wondering if anyone here had any ideas?

Any and all ideas are appreciated. I need to know everything from laying the hair down to concealing the color to removal of the brow cover

. I will probably look at some drag makeup application on youtube for more ideas

I know there is a special wax that is made specifically for covering eyebrows, but I'm not sure who would carry it other than theatre based brands. I have also heard about the glue stick trick and it might be worth a shot an easy cheap solution and non-toxic.

Here is a thread someone else started, hope this helps:

A gluestick does work, very easily. You want it to be fresh, though, and not dried out, or it will just ball up and be a jerk. You go over the brow with the stick until it is thoroughly coated, then load up a brush very heavily with powder and dab the powder on to set it. You want to load the brush up and then simply dab the powder on so that the brush won't try to make friends with the glue. Following that, you'll want to apply a heavy coverage concealer to help blank out the colour of your brow. Set that with powder. Then, apply an eyeshadow base over that so you can work over that area with ease. I've used beige-ing shadestick, but I'd imagine other bases would be a possibility too.

I've heard of the glue method, but how on earth do you get it off without ripping out your eyebrows??

Otherwise I think the Ben Nye Scar and Brow wax is what's used by many MUAs.

A gluestick is more like sticky paste rather than actual glue, so when you go to wash your face it should wash right off! hth

Gluestick washes off the face very, very easily. And though the Ben Nye wax is certainly better if this is something you'd use regularly, it's not really worth the purchase if it's just for a one or two time thing.

This is an interested thread. How about using like a foundation stick. that way its kind of creamy but also thick enough to make the brows stay in place. I saw on the show blush on lifetime when max had to create an icon look on the model he pretty much used i(i believe) the foundation stick MAX factor has and then he set it and then used maybe concealer as well. that should work. I would rather do that if i had to do it on a clientel. some ppl arent to open minded about glue.

Anywaho, thanks for the suggestions everyone. I can't wait to try some of these out. I'll probably do a little spot test like Miss Chevious said first.

And thanks for the detailed explanation of the gluestick method Sanayahs!!!

I tried that when I was in the 4th grade. It was definitely not a great look for me. I seriously looked like I should have played one of the cat people in Stephen King's Sleepwalkers!!

I know this may sound a little crazy, but moustache wax may work.

They have it at CVS,Walgreens, etc...
It holds the brows in place. They have a clear formula and a tinted formula. HTH

My beautiful women of God: please give the glue sticks back to the kids.

There are a few different ways you can cover brows. The one I remember the most is from "Making Faces":

Step One: Draw over brow with sealing wax
Step Two: Paint over waxed brow with eyebrow sealer
Step Three: Let Dry
Step Four: Cover with foundation same color as skintone (note: you may also want to use some kind of correction concealer depending on how dark and thick your eyebrow is.)
Step Five: Apply loose powder to set

kryolan has a couple options for brow wax. there's a single step wax and a multi step wax. depends on how long and how much coverage you need for the hair. the multi step wax definitely gives better cover and masking but is more difficult and time consuming to apply.

I wish Kevyn Aucoin would have been a little more specific in his instructions, but I managed to figure it out (for my Halloween costume this year). I used the Kryolan brow wax stick (kinda pricey considering I used it like once, $10 CAD). The trick is to peel off a little, roll it into a ball and warm it in your fingers, then spread it out across the brows in the direction the hair grows. So basically, start near the nose and work your way out. And really, less is more. I massively trimmed by brows before doing this, because it'll be easier to squish down if you don't have huge long hairs all over the place. Then you seal with Spirit Gum (which is a theatrical adhesive made from a type of tree gum). It will take quite a while to dry, and I found that if I moved my brows, it made it a bit crinkly. The hardest part is covering them with foundatin, IMO. Since I was the Terminator for Halloween with my face half-ripped off, I used Cyber Metal-X and Silver Fog pigment to cover it, which was no problem. However, I did it for fun a few times and tried various foundations, and it was always hard to get the colour to completely disappear (not even MAC Full Coverage did it, which I also tried setting with Studio Fix, as much as I hated to do so but I wanted the coverage). If you're pale with extremely dark eyebrows like me, it actually helped to use a little colour correcting concealor first. I found that my brows took on an almost blue tinge when covered with foundation, so I whipped out the orange corrector and it helped.

Do you absolutely need Spirit Gum? I think Spirit Gum is to make it really long lasting, but if you just use the brow wax, would it still work? Also I'm wondering how you would propperly take off those products, I think you need a special remover to take off spirit gum, no?
