I hope to save Sunny

Since I have been in my home, (less than 3 yrs) I have rescued 9 dogs. Nearly all of my neighbors own dogs, but somehow I wind up with starving abused dogs at my door step. So far, I have been able to get them back to health, train them, and get them all homes on my own. It's not an easy job, but I know they will be put down at the shelter due to their health and behavioral issues.

Yesterday, it happened again. My husband found a starved almost full grown pup that would not leave our premises. He cowers to the ground when my husband goes to pet him. He will not leave my side.

So, today, I will bring him to our vet. I already have someone interested in him. But, if he is alright, I will have to train him from scratch, get his shots, socialize him, get his weight normalized, etc.

He is gorgeous. I think he may be a full blooded lab. His eyes are pure gold.

Before, I moved here, I have had to put animals down due a leg their leg was mutilated from fights and they had contagious diseases. I don't know why these animals come to me in their condition. It shocks me and the vet how I can get these animals to go the vet with no problem in horrible conditions. I keep asking, "WHY?"

I already have my share of pets and my family thinks that it's insane to do this. But, I do it anyway.

Here are pictures of Sunny. I called him that, because his eyes and hair are the color of the gold. He is quite a huge clumsy pup. He is a such a beautiful animal. I haven't bathed him yet & I can see how beautiful he really is. I hope that I can save him.

*huggs I think you're doing an amazing job. I take in all the animals I can too, and the bf now has a golden retriever (I swear he's a pure blood) that I picked up from the streets running around soaking wet. I believe that they go to you because they know that you'll help them, nourish them, care for them, and show them the kindness that these great animals deserve.

Your pets probably told them how great you were and they wanted to be treated well too so they probably stuck around lol.

I will let you know what the vet says today. I sure hope he doesn't have something really serious. I have treated serious cases of heart worms and starvation the dog made it and she is a wonderful pet. I can take her anywhere.

It would be great to post follow up pictures of his progress. I am getting my hopes up. I really want this baby to make it. Hubby & I tear up looking at him. He is so beautiful. Two of my dogs love him like crazy. They want him to play. One of my dogs is a bit jealous. It's kinda of cute. This baby is so gentle and he loves my dogs.

I am going at 4 p.m. I can't wait to know.

We need more people like you in this world..seriously! These animals are drawn to you because you have a big heart, and I'm sure they can sense that. I don't think you're crazy at all, just a good-hearted person. I hope that all goes well at the vet, he really is gorgeous!

I hope you can save this cute dog - and give him a good home.
Animals have a sense where they can turn 2, sort of all the stray cats ended up in our house -even with big dogs around.
Last year we got a dog from a animal foundation that rescues dogs in the island of mallorca in spain, means they buy them free from the local pound where they are killed after 2 weeks if noone picks them up. Mostly their conditions are bad.
I am sometimes so sad cause i wish i could save them all.

So what you do is allways worth the effort- i will think about you and Sunny

YOU, my dear, are an angel on earth! What a beautiful soul you are! I absolutely LOVE people like you, unfortunately, it's not an every day occurence that you find such people. Sunny is a beauty, by my gosh, so thin! I hope all goes well at the vet; please keep us updated on his condition. Bless your heart, SparklingWaves.

What you do for these pets is great. As it has been said already, we need more people like you in this world! Taking care of them is an act of courage and of pure love. I am pretty sure that this beautiful Sunny will get better really soon, thanks to you, and that he will find a new loving home. *hugs*

I volunteer for an animal rescue (although we rescue mostly cats) - sometimes I can't believe the things I see. These animals are so innocent and the way people treat them is just despicable. These are living things, not posessions that you can just throw away when you get tired of them!

Good news! Sunny doesn't have heart worms. He needs to weigh at least 60 pounds. He weighs 46. He does have hook worms. I got him treated for that. I will bring him back when he gains some weight to get his shots. He is my shadow right now. He wouldn't get on the scale without me. I can't believe how attached he is. The vet thinks he is full blood lab and about 9 months old. I am so happy for Sunny. He was so scared to get in the car, but he did great once he was in it.

He hasn't bothered my cats, because I taught him the word "NO". He is a really fast learner. I am so happy.

I plan to give pictures of Sunny as he progresses. I can't wait to see him thriving. He is getting crate trained tonight. He cried for a bit, but he has a side kick (my dog under my profile) with him. I have a relaxation heart beat tape playing to calm him. He is quite now.

ooh i love animals. i think what you do is amazing. my family adoped a puppy from the petcetera shelter a long time ago. I think it is much better to adopt then buy those expensive toy dogs that will probably find a home easily.

no kidding about seeing sunny's ribs. I hope he gets better. good luck with sunny.

i hope to adopt an animal in the near future when I can afford it. i know how incredibly expensive vets can be. my poor budgie broke his leg and my sisters and i couldn't afford the vet bill. they were really nice about it and gave us a mega discount. its absolutely wonderful that you aren't overly concerned with spending your hard earned dollars to help these poor animals. the best i can do is probably let the neighborhood kitties stay in my house overnight and feed them and let them back outside in the morning. its sad how some owners lock their pets outside in the cold. my roomie was cooking and these 2 random cats just walzed right in. i fed them some meat and let them leave but that black one kept meowing at my door so i had to let it in lol.

good luck with sunny and future animals

This pup has so much to learn. I am having a time getting his stomach use to food. He doesn't know how to walk on a leash. He doesn't know how to sit. He doesn't know how to play with a ball. He tends to want to hide under my other dogs and in between my feet. He is a big dog for a puppy. It's really sad that no one did anything with him. I mean not a thing. I see this over and over again, but usually the dogs are aggressive. I have worked with aggressive dogs. He is the total opposite. I go to brush his hair and he runs. I think he thinks that I am going to beat him. It's awful.

While I walked him today, he got scared by hearing another dog bark and wanted to hide under one of my dogs that is half his size. It throws my dogs off their feet. My dogs are so understanding now of Sunny. They have taking him into the pack. Sunny is going to take a lot of care.

He is so timid. When my husband pulls up in the drive way, he runs off in the yard.

I am really glad that my dogs are taking him under their paws.
