The service industry is hard and customers are sometimes hard. Kudo's to all the MAC MA's out there who are super excited about the product they are selling and have the wonderful skill in showing us new and inventive ways to apply that product!

we never have issues cause our ma's at both bay counters and the store rock hahaha

I think it's wierd that we both basically live at our MACs' but we have never bumped into eachother!...lol.

I hate "super excited" girl too. But what annoys me even more is when I get "boring" girl. You know, the MAC MA who is either brand new or the MA who is there to make the store or counter more approachable to the masses. The one who doesn't realize that there is more to the MAC color spectrum than Naked Lunch and Mulch. I guess because I don't always wear makeup when I go makeup shopping, they assume that I'm really timid about colors and ideas so I get the one with absolutely NO creativity. It's one thing if I approach them about a subdued look or a neutral look, but it's another thing to assume that because I'm not wearing my brights (or anything for that matter) that I have no idea what it is like to wear makeup.

Oh, I know what you mean JMKess! I usually go in makeupless too. There's one MA there who is great but everytime she suggests something to me it's beige or brown. I'm like "Hey girl! It's ok lets add some color on here! Let's try this pink!" I do appreciate that the first MA isn't afraid of color. If she just settled down a bit and figured what the customer is interested in before diving into everything she'd be awesome.

I saw her again today and she was different. I said I just wanted to browse and she said "Ok!" and walked away. When I called her over for questions she was super awesome and listened to what I wanted. THAT's what I'm talking about. I wonder if she read this thread? If so no offense!

Me too. I rather they leave me alone to play with the stuff, and have time to debate with myself whether to get it or not.

glad to hear that you got an experience that's to your liking and there were no feelings hurt on her end too. it sucks when customers have a negative attitude as well when the ma's super excited. but i understand what you were saying about her not listening to what you were saying.

I have honestly never had a bad experience with a bad MAC MA / SA.
I think that without fail, they have all been helpful, courteous, enthusiastic and talented. Maybe my experiences are the exception rather than the rule, but I have to give MAC props for hiring and training some really great folks.

I don't like it when MA's colormatch me wrong because my real color is sold out but they're just desparate to make a sale... {Well this only happened 1 time, but yeah that just boiled my bubbles}

Lets remember-every make up artist like every customer is different! At my location we have many regular customers and they all have there favorites for different reasons!! That is what makes my job the bomb-The personal connections!(and the free make-up and the product and the customer!)

keep in mind that in many makeup lines, us MAS can eventually be fired if we dont meet our sales goals

Please don't revive this thread, guys. It's dead and buried and there are plenty of other currently active threads about similar topics.
