Yep! You can Back 2 MAC any plastic or glass containers, including lipsticks that you got free. You can B2M for regular lipsticks, limited edition lipsticks (inluding special packaging), Mattene lipsticks (if available), and Slimshine lipsticks at all counters. The only exception is the Viva Glam line since all the profit from those items go to the MAC Aids Fund. At stores you can get any lipstick (minus Viva Glams), lipglass (minus Viva Glams), or single pot eyeshadows.

My MA told me you could not get the special package lipsticks when B2Ming ... I was also told that whatever you are trading it for has to be $14 and Slimhines and Mattene aren't.

There may be differences depending on regional/counter managers so always check with the counter/store you are intending on B2Ming. I know for a fact that my counter does all the practices I stated above since I am an artist there. I know that I have spoken with a LIVE CHAT artist on M·A·C Cosmetics as well as been told by Update trainers that we can give out specially packaged as well as Mattene/Slimshine lipsticks for six empties.

I don't know about the Mattenes or Slimshines, but I've B2M'd for several LE special packaging lipsticks lately. I got Fun N Sexy from Fafi, and Melrose Mood and Hollywood Nights from Heatherette with no problem. I specifically asked my counter about it, and they said it was absolutely fine.

ditto at my counter. mac sent out a company-wide memo when the slimshines came out permanent that these were include in b2m. we let you choose from any bullet lipstick (minus VG), LE lipstick, and slimshines. if/when mattenes become permanent those will be included as well.

Bunny and Erine, is there any way to confirm the Slimshine rule in writing (like via email) so that I can print it out or forward it to the manager at my counter? I have asked her and she said it was not allowed, but if it was a company wide memo, I would think it would be. I did a livechat already, and they said to call the counter/store directly to confirm, but should I email MAC to see what they say?

i would email mac directly and ask. let them know that you are aware thru artists at different locations that a memo was sent out to their location stating that slimshines were allowable as your freebie, but that your local counter refuses. also tell them that when you livechatted, you were told it was your counter's discretion. ask them for comfirmation so that you can print it out and take it to your local counter. be specific, that way you don't get a generic answer.

Weird. . .When I returned 6 empty packages to Mac, I B2M a Heatherette Lipstick and had no problem at all. . .

OK, so to be clear, though...if we B2M'd for something and then used that item up...we can B2M that used item (along with 5 others) for another free item?

^^Thank you! I was never clear as to why they marked to bottom...I thought it was so you couldn't B2M the container. Now I realize it's so you can't return/exchange it.

we never used to mark the bottoms until one customer wanted a lipgloss. we told her that its only a lipstick at counters. she begged us to make an exception, and we told her we couldn't. she told us to give her a lipstick that matched the gloss that we wanted, and if that if she didn't like the lipstick, she would just exchange it for the gloss later.
needless to say, we now mark them.

People are dumb...they should be happy they're getting something free that they actually get to pick out. I know I sometimes save my containers for when I come across a store if there are no lipsticks I want.

At the freestanding store that I go to they didnt let me B2M with the heatherette collection... the MA told me that because its special packaging that they dont allow to B2M...and I was like are you sure? (Because I know that several girls on here B2M without a problem)...so she asked another MA that was next to her and she also said no...so I just let it go... but Im just wondering is this the store's policy or does it just depend on what MA you get....because a couple of weeks later i B2M 18 empties for 3 eyeshadows and a different MA gave me 3 pan shadows instead of the potted shadows...however..the last time I went I had 12 empties and wanted to get 2 pan shadows...I got the same MA that told me no about the heatherette and she said that I could only get the potted shadows and not the pan shadows...So why the discrepancy?
