smashbox's foundation brush is the bestone, hands down. i've used foundation brushes from 5 different brands, and the smashbox one is honestly the best. unfortunately, i think it's price is comparable to the mac one. i'd say wait a bit, then buy a nice one, take good care of it. you'll get more use out of a quality brush, in the long run.

It's probably one of the biggest foundation brushes I've used. And I absolutely adore it. It's my fav!!! The price isn't bad either, IMO.
I recommend the Purse Foundation Brush, that's $8 US dollars
or the 6-piece brush kit (comes with Foundation brush) for $30.
They sell a reg size brush for $19, but I think it's smaller and I haven't tried it. HTH
