Don't do it! Everything is the same as the normal products, brushes, powders, etc. all you'd be paying extra for is a little leather sleeve over the products. Not worth the extra money IMO.

I had to return the powder as well as the brush set: the plastic bow of the powder fell off (and yes, it looked very tacky w/ bits of plastic sticking out) and the ferrule of the 136 seemed to be loose. I hardly ever return anything, but as it was faulty, it had to go back. My store has both items on hold for me as a replacement, but I think I will pass. I don't mind paying couture prices, but sadly, the quality seems to be lacking this year. The bow and faux leather was a cute idea, but it doesn't come close at all to the high end packaging of Gareth Pugh.

Oh that's awful Mac-Guy! I checked my brushes after reading this and they seem to be fine, but last night I noticed they are made in China. Not too big of a deal, but it most likely means that the couture price is for a machine-made brush instead of the hand-made process regular MAC brushes go through.

I'm satisfied with my brushes, but I definitely agree that the price was a little outrageous for all factors considered, faulty brushes or not. It's just a definite price hike and not worth it for many wallets.

I didn't even mind the price. A hundred bucks for two brushes is not too bad, but faulty products are annoying at that price point. I redeemed myself with two 174 that I found at a CCO. I love that brush and the quality is outstanding. I still have until Monday to pick up my replacement brush and compact, but I might just leave it.

Awesome find at CCO for your brushes. I feel you and would do the same thing and just pass on the replacements if that happened to me. I am a little apprehensive because of your experience as I bought the brushes online, so returning them won't be as easy. Yipes.

These brushes are hand-made as well, just like all the other full-sized brushes. Being made in China doesn't mean anything.

My mistake. I was under the impression that the holiday mini brushes are typically manufactured in china, which if I recall are machine-made, so I felt that the same might be for these two brushes.

A lot of the LE brushes are made in China. If I recall correctly, the GP brush from 2011 was also manufactured in China.

Yeah, only SE brushes are machine-made, not to be confused with SH brushes tho, which are man-made like full size brushes.
