MAC - A Rose Romance Discussion

Sorry if this has been asked already, but for those of you that have the Rose fragrance, what do you think of it? My mom LOVES anything that smells like roses, and I mean anything. My dad even buys new rose bushes for her every summer to plant around the house because she loves them so much. Anyway, I am making her a basket for mother's day and I was thinking about getting her the fragrance and adding it. But how is the scent, wearable, long lasting? I heard it smells more like an air freshener or room spray, than a perfume. I would REALLY appreciate your opinions. TIA

I didnt see this collection in real life, but I looked at all the swatches...Im just not feeling any of it. The lipsticks seem like, unspecial. Everything does actually. But I did order silverthorn eyeshadow, the way everyone was talking about it, made it sound great. I swatched it and its super pretty and unique. Havent worn it yet but Im excited to....

I agree. I think Silverthorn was the most unique from the collection, including Mutiny pigment if you missed it from the last collection like I did. I purchased quite a lot from this collection, but nothing was really backup worthy, except BOY bp for light skin tones. I've gotten compliments wearing this. It just gives me a healthy light pink/peach hint of color. It gives me enough color as a blush, but not too much to make me look like a clown. The lipsticks were gorgeous and I will def use them but I didn't get any backups b/c I felt like I already had similar and the colors could be duped.I'm in love with Loving Touch b/c the color just dries onto your lips. It's like your wearing lipstick, and can still kiss the hubby without him having to wipe his lips lol. I think the gel blush was another unique product from this collection, but I've never used any type of cream or gel based blush before so I haven't mastered the technique of applying this. I still have to figure out what brush to use to apply this.
IMO- I think the MUST HAVES from this collection for any skintone would be Silverthorn, Mutiny(everyone should have this), and the gel blush(hope they come out with more colors.........that is, if I can ever figure out how to apply it evenly

Like your mom, I too adore the smell of roses and love most rose based fragrances. But I really disliked this. It was one of those scents that I can only describe as stinky! I'm assuming she already has Stella if she likes rose?

So I went to the counter and eyed Rose Romance l/s for like the 3rd time and she came home with me. It's nothing unique but very pretty

I must profess my love for Et Tu Bouquet?. Now I'm about to admit what may very likely be the strangest reason for purchasing a eye shadow ever. When I first heard about this collection, I knew I would be getting this shadow just based on the name. I majored in English and as a die-hard Shakespeare fan and a lover of all Brit lit, I had to get it simply because it is a play on the line "Et tu, Brute?" said by Caesar in Julius Caesar. Completely crazy, I know...but the name tugged on all my heartstrings, lol.

Long story short, I absolutely love the color...much more than I thought I would. It's got this gorgeous pink sheen to it, and it really caught me by surprise by how lovely it looks when it's applied.

If all else, this is one of the coolest named eye shadows in my opinion.

I really like it!

For me it has a great opening smell and it turns out very well on my skin. I can still smell it after a few hours, on your clothes it lasts even longer.

I would love to get it, but as I said I have to save for Style Warriors

No, actually I don't think she's ever even heard of it. I haven't either to be honest. Would you recommend it?

^^ That was what happened when I tried to swatch too. I wonder if the surface has hardened or something.

Yes, the surface was very hard.

I tried the ones at Tangs Orchard and Takashimaya, I might try some other counter next week but I doubt I will buy any of them.

Maybe the testers were already used a lot and bad.
Summer Rose shows up wonderful applied with a brush.

Yes, I saw many nice swatches pics here!
That's why I'm so surprised.

^ My Summer Rose doesn't swatch very well at all, even with a cotton tip, and neither did the one at the counter. But when I actually put it on it does show up on my cheeks. Go figure..

Beauty Powders.

Summer Rose has an amazing pigmentation!
Blush Of Youth was appealing but also too light even for me (NC15) to justify buying. I rather get a real blush in a close color at some point.
