MAC - A Rose Romance Discussion

ok... so this collection launches here tomorrow...

And I'm pretty sure the only things I will be getting are Silverthorn e/s and Summer Rose BP.

Let's hope I can stick to my list!!

actually... now that I've just read about the possible new bright e/s for fall I think I'm quite possibly going to skip Summer Rose BP... I already have Stark Naked (and a backup - it's my HG), and Coygirl, so I dont think I need another one that is close in colour.

So that just leaves Silverthorn on my list.

Can someone please tell me this is rational?

I'm going to be paring down my Style Warriors list too... will probably only get Bright Future and Impassioned from that collection.

That is totally rational! I only got silverthorn e/s and rose romance lipstick with B2M and I don't regret not getting more.

well I went in to get my RR haul today

after swatching most things, I ended up getting:

Silverthorn e/s
Summer Rose BP

I almost bought Blush of Youth BP as well as it looked like it would show on me as a blush, but figured there were a few in the clearance bin so I would pick it up from there

Once I swatched Summer Rose I could see that it had a lot more violet kinda colour on me than Stark Naked, and this made it enough to buy

I swatched Et tu Bouquet? a couple of times - it was really pretty but just another pretty gritty e/s to me... I would be able to live without it. Of Summer had almost no payoff on me, and the Gel Blush wasnt screaming out at me either. I already have a mini of magnetique l/g so I didnt need to worry about that, and the others were kinda "blah" to me.

I was on the fence about the Rose Fix +, as I hadnt used Fix + before and have been meaning to pick it up. I might go back later on and pick that up, but I wont be heartbroken if it's not there.

I picked up Refined MSF as well... I had been umming and ahhhing over this for a while but figured since I wasnt overly impressed with the Colour Craft MSF's that I would pick this one up instead becuase it has a fantastic texture. Plus the one I got (they only had 3 left) has a big fat coral vein through it

but it also has large cream patches so I can pick what colour I want

I'm so happy that I kinda kept to my list!!

Enjoy your Silverthorn and Summer Rose! Like you, I have never tried Fix+ before but I picked up Fix+ Rose and have only used it once. I sprayed my brush with it and apply MAC glitters to my eyelids.

I must confessed I didn't swatch the gel blush. I should try the tester the next time I'm at the MAC counter.

I love the lip stain (I only bought Tender Tryst), I just wish it wasn't so drying. But it's kinda awesome though, it adds a nice color to my lips without me worrying about it rubbing off like l/s or l/g.

i can't get on with mac's lipstains. they always wear off my mouth really quickly and then leave a random pinky red ring on the outside of my mouth!!

Really? I love the lipstains but I apply 2 coats so that I get a really nice strong color. I don't even have to wear lipstick or gloss after but I add it to play around with the color. I love it as a base and it stays on for a while on me. I have Tender Tryst which is more towards a metallic purple, sort of, and Secret Crush, more of a red berry stain. I am halfway done with Secret Crush and debating buying another or saving for a new collection.

oh and on the plus side i just got hold of a new solar white in pot form! yay! very excited and happy! only wanted this for like a year!!!

My Nordies only has 12 RR quads, I pre-ordered it today and can pick it up on Thurs if they didn't over sell their pre-orders. Other wise guess I will have to pay the $8 in shipping.

I finally got Silverthorn e/s! It's so lovely, a faded or greyed blue-violet with a gold sheen.

I had the same issue with Of Summer, didnt' like the texture either

Glad to hear you picked up refined msf. It is my favourite

I know you passed on the Gel Blush and I don't want to enable but the two together go really well on my fair skin and you look pretty similar in skintone based on your pic

THis is Just a pinch Gel BLush with Refined MSF dusted over it. Definately a fav combo. I've never been matched to a MAC foundation but I'm guessing I'm NW15 or so. I was wearing CLinique Almost Makeup in Fair in this pic.



I also really enjoy Perfect Topping over Summer Rose BP and MOon River MB over Blush of Youth BP.

I"ve been all into cheeks lately lol for some reason.

I thought Summer Rose would show on me (NW15), but for some reason when I tried it on at the counter today, it had basically NO pigmentation while Blush of Youth showed!! It was crazy! I even went to another counter to try their one out to make sure the first hadn't been a bad one.. but nope... for some reason... Summer Rose has ZERO pigmentation on me unless i really layer it on... =\

Guess I'm getting Blush of Youth afterall..

I went into Nordies on saturday to get the quad only to find out they didnt have it out yet and the ma was surprised it was avail online.

Long story short she sold it to me, and told me that if anyone asks I made a huge fuss because you could buy online but not yet in store.

And on a random note, the conversation with the 2 mas at the counter then turned to make up for ever. ha!

that was very nice of tish! did she find it at a cco or was it her own stash she raided?! i found mine on ebay. i have been seraching for solar white on here and on ebay for months and months. and yesterday i got lucky! i got it for just under £10 which is the same as retail so i'm pretty pleased i didn't have to pay silly prices for it! i can't wait for it to arrive now!!
