The problem is that you don't need to be registered on Specktra to view (and steal!) images.

That would need to be implemented and enforced, and current members would need to register & in so doing, agree to the terms of registration.
Perhaps something will come of all of this brainstorming.

I think she meant to add that to registering process and to have Specktra only be available for members.
I understand, but it's very easy to create multiple accounts on Specktra and steal again and again.

The only method that seems to work is the three-strike sanction, an Internet law in France, in which Internet user has been sentenced to have their internet access suspended for two weeks if they violated copyright terms. Repeated violation means that this person's Internet access will be blocked permanently, though it does not stop them to go to a different location, e.g. Internet cafe. This law is a a very controversial issue and it is currently discussed to enforce it in other European countries.

I didn't even know such a law existed. Would that also mean your internet access gets suspended when downloading movies etc.?

Yes, but only if you are reported by the copyright owner. Basically, it's an anti-piracy regime.

If you violate the terms three times (thus the term "three-strikes), your Internet provider will cut your Internet connection for two weeks and you will have to pay a fine, i.e you will not be able to browse, view or download anything, though you are still able to receive and send emails. If you repeat this offense, your Internet may be blocked permanently.

Some countries have ruled out this law completely, the US, NZ, and Sweden, if I remember correctly.

PDF, I don't want to bore you will law school cases, but here is some information on the three strikes sanction in the Netherlands: http://arno.uvt.nl/show.cgi?fid=107532

Happy reading.

Sadly your watermark can be easily cropped out of you don't place it where it will adversely affect the image IF it's cropped out. Then the really crafty people can just photoshop it out. So it's not a 100% safeguard but it discourages MOST from using your photo. Only the pure creeps will ignore that and spend all their energy trying to alter your pic versus just getting the product themselves and taking a picture. Or I don't know...ASKING the pic owner if they can use it (that seems like a foreign concept, doesn't it???)

Thanks. It seems like it is forbidden to steal copyright stuff, but they can't really do anything unless the owner contacts the police or something. I'll keep that in mind.

Plz someone PM them let them know about this. I would be not happy about someone putting my picon an ebid. Prettykitty and hazylady

I pm'd them both as well as Internetchick.
Thank you! I reported them.

It's not just annoying to me to have the pictures stolen, but I also don't want to be associated with the sale (especially if something goes wrong).

Seriously?? That pisses me off. I guess there's nothing I can do.

They did it with my images as well. This was the final straw for me and made me not only stop posting (early) swatch pics, but also write reviews.
yea i remember you just like stopped altogether. i dont understand why people really do this. I really dont.

i think its worse that they literally took their face picture. like thats just violation.
