This was actually being discussed in another thread (don't ask me which one...there have been too many to keep up with lately, lol).  Someone started calling it "snow" on the lipsticks.  Erine (or maybe Mac-Guy?  I know they both gave some input on it) gave a thorough explanation for why this happens sometimes, which I don't remember well enough to repeat here.  I'll try to find the exact post and link you to it.  But the important thing to know is that it's not anything that will harm you.  It tends to happen with the lustre finish lipsticks, which both of the ones you mentioned are. ETA: Yes, both of them mentioned it, but Mac-Guy gave the detailed explanation I was thinking of here:  Post #3601   http://www.specktra.net/t/181169/mac-strength-collection-discussion-december-2012/3600#post_2320250
I just checked all 108 Lippies for "snow". Even my 2000 vintage MAC Red is clear- not that I use it. Whew. Does dipping them preventatively in isopropyl extend the life of lipsticks? Or does it just dry them out? Thanks ladies!

It looks like a Country cross stitch pattern. It doesn't look like something edgy that MAC would do but it does look sweet. hmmmm. I dunno

Yeah not what I expected either. But it goes with the theme cause it does look like the top of a cupcake. If the product is awesome I'll still be getting both. :nods:

She wrote it was In for a Treat, for IMO it looks more like the other one? the leaves look periwinkle rather than mint.
Either way, I do really like the design!

It's much more symmetrical than i was hoping for. I don't love it, but i don't hate it. I just wanted it to look more modern. There's some pretty awesome modern cake decorating out there (on TV and on-line).

But the real test is the color when it's worn. I mean, so what if the powder design looks like grandma's table cloth... I want to know what it looks like on my face! If this is Pink Buttercream ("Light silvery pink base with dark pink flowers and periwinkle leaves"), i may give in and get Veronica's Blush Pearlmatte from Archie's Girls.

Edit: that doesn't mean i won't get this, just that i think the two look very different from each other.

Funny that a lot of us imagined a different, more modern design. I also agree about it being more symmetrical than I had in mind.

I planned on skipping the Archie ones in favour of these, but seeing the design now I actually prefer the Archie Pealrmattes. I'm still skipping them, though. It will be interesting to see how these swatch, I'm not sure what to expect.

I agree with you. I would have preferred a more modern design, but hey, it fits the theme and I still can picture it in my stash. Awaiting swatches to determine if I need both. Probably yes...

Well, i just took a peek at the promo pic, and the design in the compact matches the design on the cake in the photo...

ummm, no.

I love pearlmattes but I still have plenty of my two from vera. I can wait for something I like better.

Oh, that's right, I didn't even notice. The decor on the left cake is much prettier IMO, I would've preferred that design.

Nevertheless, I'm still very excited for this collection. Can't wait to see more product pics, and swatches of course.

now I'm kind of wishing they made one with a Whip cream and a Cherry on top. I can feel sugar cravings coming on.

I agree. Maybe they'll do the other PM with that design?

Hoping swatches and more product pics surface soon! I feel like there's so much I want so far. I'm really loving the model's lip in the promo pic.

The snow is exclusive to the lustre formula. As mac red is not a lustre, it won't have snow. And alcohol has no effect on the lipsticks, except for immediately killing germs on the surface. Dipping in alcohol won't prevent new germs from growing, nor will it extend the life.
Well some are LE packaging- you can't B2M those, can you?
Yes, you can.

Maybe that will be the design for the coral flowers/mint leaves PM. I hope so! Much cuter! I would definitely buy that one :)

This is what I was thinking, as well. The colors on the other design look like they could be a little coral/minty in different lighting.
