MAC Hey, Sailor! (Summer 2012) Discussion

thanks for the heads up! i might have slept on it otherwise...!

i was on my way back from the gym, and on my way out to dinner...at first i was having problems finding the items, because there seems to be a delay on the canadian site on launch days, and slightly panicked...but in the end i got through! so i quickly ordered the brush and sail la vie. maybe it won't sell out as quickly as other collections, but better safe than sorry!

i almost caved and bought a liner, but i'm just going to wait till launch day to swatch the other products. i find when i order online i often end up doing more impulse buying (even though it takes me days to finally checkout sometimes!), so i tried to be as careful as i could...for now!

I def forgot about that lmao. But there was like 1 person with dark skin that swatched things so it didnt really help much to figure out what may look good on me. At least with temptalia she will compare and describe each product with other things and usually that would give me a better sense.

I hear you. I know I want Sail la Vie and will order that, but at the moment I have both NoB and SD in my cart. I think I'll just take the chance that neither will sell out and wait to swatch. I don't want to miss the lippie, but I'm not sure enough of the blushes and bronzers without seeing them. I don't technically NEED either, so if I miss them I'll live.

I ordered : Jaunty Feeling fresh Barefoot Launch away Crew Handforged Sundipped I'm still debating on tcas. I think it looks like Archetype from pret a papier or beigeland from Spring Color forecast. Does anyone have these to compare to tcas?

I'm NC 25-30 (light-medium) strong warm undertones.

I'm leaning towards Nude on Board because I already have a red based bronzer (Matte Bronzer) and because it's not too shimmery (per MAC-Guy), but I just want to be sure.

Talked myself out of getting Fleet Fast blush since blushes don't look all that different on me, all corals look the same and most pinks look the same. But now I'm not sure if I wanna get Shore Leave lip pencil or maybe Au Rose Suntint or Man Rays body oil. With my luck, Au Rose would give no color though. Plus I have so many lip products that I had to separate them into 2 containers, 1 for lipsticks and 1 for lipglasses.

yes...i feel that way about the bronzers as well...and fleet fast blush too. the swatch pics have me still feeling uncertain, especially with products that have even a little bit of reflectivity in them, the photos seem to vary so much with lighting! the big sellers in this collection seem to be the lip and eye products in any case, though i think in general the summer collection stuff tends to move pretty well.

After all the hemming and hawing, I ordered Nude on Board. I used to wear very shimmery yellow toned products when I was younger and loved them. I know I can make this work; I can always layer a bit of Matte Bronze on to give it more of a red base. I only ordered NoB and SLV; I'll wait for Christine's swatches before broadening my order. Our colouring is similar (I'm warmer than she is) and I've seen enough of her swatches to fairly accurately predict how things will look on me. I'm probably ok with summery blushes anyway with my recent TC purchases and the two bronzers. The MUA in the store today wouldn't let me swatch, but did offer that she didn't think Fast Fleet was really for me.

I think I'm more interested in a Casual Colour blush or two. Have fun making your own selections!
