MAC Interviews & Hiring Process

I have a question that doesn't seem to have been answered in any of the MAC threads.

I interviewed with MAC and was called within 3 days and told they wanted me to join as a freelance and on-call but I would be contacted after November 7th when she got back from vacation. It has now been 2 weeks and I haven't received any information as to when I can go in and fill out my paperwork. I'm worried.

Is it possible they called me by mistake? I had to listen to her message again just to make sure I was actually offered a job.

Is this normal? Does their response time take this long after MAC has already offered you a position?

Can someone please help me? Please

Here is a snippet directly from a department store's new hire paperwork kind of outlining what I was talking about:

"Social Media

The following are some additional expectations specific to blogging, chatting or posting online.

Your personal use of social networking/media tools can impact the work environment. Use good judgment accordingly.

When using social networking/media tools, you should always represent yourself and (DEPARTMENT STORE) in a manner that reflects the (DEPARTMENT STORE) tradition of the highest ethical standards. When making posts online, do not be open about your affiliation with (DEPARTMENT STORE) and the role/position you hold. The Confidentiality and Nondisclosure Expectations apply to all Internet communication. This means you may not publish or post sensitive, private or confidential Company information, which includes customer and employee information, Social Security numbers, credit card data, sales information or anything about (DEPARTMENT STORE) that has not already been published in a public document such as our Annual Report, a news release or on our Web site. Use good judgment and refrain from gossiping about other employees, customers or vendors, and do not post pictures or videos of (DEPARTMENT STORE) premises without proper approvals. You are legally responsible for the content you post. This means you may be held personally liable for defamation, libel, disclosure of trade secrets, obscenity, etc up to termination. Remember that social networking posts are available for others to see, even when they are marked as private. Use good judgment in posting any (DEPARTMENT STORE)-related information."

Just call in. Managers get busy all the time, so don't be afraid to call for an update, especially if you've already been offered the job.

Hey Ms. Leslie, And Congrats on your final interview, just relax (as much as you can) and you will be fantastic! Go in confident, and positive. As for me, I have a part time position. I am working with a great team and I'm excited to finally be a part of them.

Keep us posted on your progress. I'm excited for you already!

Congrats Gina!!! Are you full time or part time?

My last interview is tomorrow... I'm nervous... lol

its very hard to get full time with MAC you only considered full time usually if your a 3rd key which is basically an assistant manager. here are som people that can be full time if your not a 3rd key. u have to have been with the company for a while to get it its a coveted position as you get all the benefits once u become over 30 hours a week. i have been with the company over year and just got moved from 15 hours a week to 20 hours a week. im currently working 25 on up because we have 2 ten hour positions at my counter open. that they are currently interviewing for

I had the interview and I think it went soooooo well! I'm really happy I came on here and looked over some of the questions other people have been asked because they asked me all of those question. It would have been difficult for me to answer them if I had not already prepared :) I am still nervous about the outcome. I was told I would here something by Wednesday so we'll see then. They seemed to have liked me but I also do not have too much formal experience with makeup OR retail and I think that could possibly hurt me. I brought a small photo album of looks I have done on other as well as myself so the could get a glimpse of my potential. My fingers are crossed!!

Would it be weird if I sent them a thank you letter for the interview? I was taught to do that with all interviews but I'm not sure if this is different.

Hey Ms. Leslie,

I'm glad to hear that things went well during the interview! This website has loads of M.A.C information, such as product info, past experiences and all kinds of great things. So, check it out. In the meantime, go ahead and send a thank you letter, or card for the person that gave you the interview. After my interviews, I gave a thank you card to both the Store Manager, and the Trainer who did my demo interview. I even dropped it off personally, so by all means, go ahead and do it. And it will keep you fresh in the minds. In fact, drop it off on Wednesday, since they are supposed to tell you something then.

Looking forward to hearing about a favorable outcome.
