I don't know. Many aspects of this collection just don't add up. I'm sure most people knew how big the Maleficent movie is going to be, at least visual-wise. Yet, it seems MAC didn't try as hard to come up with a unique collection. I think part of the reason is Maleficent's visuals in the movie. Maleficent has neutral eyes, piercing red ruby lips, contour and well.... that's about it as far as makeup. (and for the record, this is an amazing look on Angie because she is so beautiful to begin with... but not much going on with makeup) Her cloak is black. Now I think MAC could've found inspiration in Maleficent's outworldly green eyes... But anyways, overall, the collection was very un-interesting with a lot of repromotes and included permanent items with unique packaging.I just saw two commercials for the Maleficent movie within the hour. They're starting to build up the excitement. On the other hand, the Maleficent Collection isn't building up that same kind of hype. That is disappointing. I wouldn't be surprised if MAC is left with a lot more of their product than they anticipate.
Me too. It is the ultimate I-am-stuck-in-time statement. Of course, everybody has different tastes. You can try it as a cheek highlight. But for an undereye highlightI'm still waiting for that trend to die.
You are right that this collection lacks inspiration and it is quite obvious that MAC didn't put a lot of effort into making it a collection that people will talk about for years to come. At this point, I think people would have been happier to see the same products that came out with Venomous Villains.I don't know. Many aspects of this collection just don't add up. And then there's the release of the makeup collection. From Temptalia's blog, the release will be at MAC online, mac stores and macys. That's a lot less than typical releases. So, considering how small the release will be, I don't think MAC will be making that many of each product to begin with.
I wonder if there was something in the agreement between Disney and MAC that limited the release. Disney does make makeup, so maybe they're planning to release a collection themselves? Who knows... I still think a lot of things don't add up about this release.
Beauty blender babe :kiss:Which brush? Do you mean the 217 Blending Brush?
It's used as a highlight. What would you use the beauty powder for? I'm NC44.
Very stuck.Me too. It is the ultimate I-am-stuck-in-time statement. Of course, everybody has different tastes. :sigh:
The collection was made because it was the actual products used in the movie. Not a collection inspired by, or a collection to be talked about later down the road because it was some major collection. It's a collection that consumers can buy and feel like they're a part a major movie. Is it lack-luster? Absolutely! And mac will suffer from it. They could've come up with some new colours, but that would've cost more, and I'm sure they thought that this collection would sell like crazy just from the hype and packaging alone. But it won't.I don't know. Many aspects of this collection just don't add up. I'm sure most people knew how big the Maleficent movie is going to be, at least visual-wise. Yea I didn't really think about the fact that the products in the collection were used in the movie. That does make a difference and gives people more reason to buy, but It's unfortunate that the face powders aren't even appropriate for all skin tones. The collection was made because it was the actual products used in the movie. Very true. Even tho Angelina is fair, it would've been cool if they had done a full colour range of Maleficants-fair, medium and dark. They could've easily brought out a couple more, if not all, the sculpt powders, along with 2 more BPs to fit more skin tones.Yea I didn't really think about the fact that the products in the collection were used in the movie. So I did read about that from an InStyle article. But I wasn't sure if it was just the lip products that were actually used in the movie or not. (http://news.instyle.com/2014/05/01/mac-maleficent-makeup-collection/) It's not very clear in the article. I'd love to know if all the products were used in the movie. For the lip products, can you offer some explanation? It says the lip products were actually used in the movie but as far as I can tell, only the lip pencil was already available before the collection was made? So... does MAC make custom colors for movie makeup artists? You are right that this collection lacks inspiration and it is quite obvious that MAC didn't put a lot of effort into making it a collection that people will talk about for years to come. I've been wondering if they didn't want to fork up the money because last year when Urban Decay released the palettes for the Oz movie they ended up not selling out and eventually went on sale. The movie wasn't a total flop, but it for sure didn't do as well as Disney had hoped.
Disney's live action film reputation has gone down hill recently and they are probably hoping that Maleficent will pull them out of the hole, especially with Jolie as the starring character. I think that would make any company reluctant to fork out the big bucks to stamp their name on something that could potentially fail.
Hmm... great point. Ug I hated the Oz movie. I hate when too many girls throw themselves at one guy (or vise versa). And I thought Oz was a jerk. "Hey I know you turned wicked and ugly because I didn't take the time or interest to properly explain I didn't love you exclusively. But hey, I hope you find goodness in your heart again." I was surprised the Oz palettes didn't do so well. I think the only reason I didn't get them was because UD's other palettes like VICE, NAKEDs have way better value. Yeah I agree I would've been happier seeing the venomous villains come out again. *cries* I hope the Disney live action movie picks up. Maleficent looks like it has great potential. Here's to hoping.

That would've been awesome!!!If only they had included Angelina's cheek prostheses in the collection
Yes, everything in the collection was used on her, not just the lips. And the lip pencil has been perm for quite some time, so they did custom make the lipstick and gloss for the movie, while everything else was perm. As far as making custom colours, they don't, unless they're planning on collaborating for a collection to sell. It's too much of a process, both time and money, to do so if it's just for a movie and not for a collection to be sold. But makeup artists will mix and make custom colours themselves for the role if needed. So I did read about that from an InStyle article. Seriously... I was expecting some fx stuff like a gray or a greenish fluid fx stuff... Or some moldable thingyIf only they had included Angelina's cheek prostheses in the collection

i agree. at mac they used to tell me to use a lighter shade to conceal under eyes but then i had raccoon eyes. then my sisters friend at sephora said use a shade of concealer a shade darker then your face????? i thought same color as my face but everyone tells me different thingsIt's a huge highlighting trend (the highlight triangle). It's best to set your undereye with a powder that matches your skintone. It looks more natural in person and on camera. Using a lighter colour doesn't look natural, as it's not an area of the face that is naturally highlighted, whereas the high plains of your face are. And then when you add a sheen in to the mix...
that happens half the time when i sign in but i jus tried and it went right thru. I have had that issue to thoI have a technical question. When you sign in on Mac (just using your password), does it take a long time for it to process?
For me, it always seems like it takes way too long ... 25 -28 seconds. Its immediate when I sign in at ANY other site, never any wait time...its only MAC's site.
I called CS & told them that I felt it was so slow & could they pass it along to IT...she was not nice & said no, that is not their sites problemthat
maybe she read my notes
That is terrible customer service. I signed in and it only took 3 seconds. So I have a feeling whatever the problem is, it's probably on your side of the computer. Still, that is terrible customer service. Maybe clear out the cookies? Did you visit the mac website way more than others? You can also try using another browser and see if that helps.I have a technical question. When you sign in on Mac (just using your password), does it take a long time for it to process?

Yikes! Ideally it should be the same colour of your skin, just in an NW shade to counteract the dark circles. I wish it would die quickly!!!i agree. at mac they used to tell me to use a lighter shade to conceal under eyes but then i had raccoon eyes. then my sisters friend at sephora said use a shade of concealer a shade darker then your face????? i thought same color as my face but everyone tells me different things

Wow I can't believe she was so rude about that. The least she could have done was act like she gave a damn even if she had no plans to pass it along. I just tried on my computer using Safari and Google Chrome, both signed me in super fast. If you happen to be using a Mac I could possibly help you, but my PC knowledge is at zero.I have a technical question.
