MAC Posh Paradise Discussion

If the open paint pots in the promo picture with the colourful leaves are the actual colours (not computer generated colours as per MAC's norm), then they look wonderful. I'm really looking forward to seeing proper swatches. I do wish these were permanent, though, so I could afford to get them all

Amen to the perm comment!

I don't mind that they are LE, especially as most of them are "fashion" colors. There are new p/p at least once or twice a year, so by the time I toss my old ones out, the new ones are just about to be released.

I don't take any notice of what colours are supposed to be in 'fashion'. I wear what colours I like and what suits me. My Paint Pots last ages and I would love to be able to afford all, or nearly all, of this collection. Unfortunately, they won't stick around on the MAC website long enough for me to be able to buy them all.

I don't tend to buy what's in fashion. I am fairly predictable and tend to buy shades of purple cause they bring out my green eyes so I would love to see more purples in the perm line. Urban decay, mufe and others have eye shadow bases in a variety of colours so I don't see why mac can't.....I would be in heaven if they did

I understand your frustration, but MAC has a very different strategy than most other brands. In fact, it is very much comparable to the fashion industry, where trends appear, peak, and disappear again. In MAC terms, that's simply called LE.

I do like the idea of LE collex, as it is a fashion-forward thinking rather than having a permanent line that does not move much. IMO, having everything permanent would bore the heck out of me. I want new items, new collections, new textures and products. By all means, yes, it is exhausting to keep up, but if I get tired of it, I just take a MAC break.

Now, both models (LE and perm collections) have certainly advantages, but as consumers we can make free choices what brands we buy or which trends we pass. If there is an item that MAC does not offer - personally, MAC lacks any lash tints or mascaras in (dark) brown - I just navigate to other brands that offer more choice. And if there are LE items that I like - for me, these are most likely bronzers that usually appear more often in summer collections - I just stock up so I don't run out. While it might a higher expense at that time, it eventually will balance out in other months were I buy less or no items from a collection.

I hope you can indulge yourself in purple p/p. PP sounds like it is YOUR collection. Happy shopping.

Oh I love these discussions! Yeah I completely agree- I love how mac have lots of le collections- it keeps things fresh, means they can be very creative and I look forward to the launches each month. I just wish they would expand their very popular product lines with some more perm colours. Their paint pots and fluidlines used to come in a bigger selection of colours and they got rid of some of them.... I understand they have to make room for over things but why get rid of very popular products...

mmm I don't think that colors are computer generated but for sure the picture has been modified... they probably have added contrast and saturation! but I guess they are lovely and pigmented anyways! Hope to not be disappointed

I hear you. I am literally crying over the d/c Mascara X in Dark Brown. Oh well...

I guess the down side is stuff like no brown mascaras, since they're not popular fashion-wise and have been a bit shoved to the side by the Kim Kardashian, ultra-thick black lash look that's been going on for years now. It reminds me of when I was a punk rock type and wanted bright red lipstick and had to raid my grandmother's makeup box since you couldn't get a decent matte red lipstick in 1980 even if you sold your soul to the devil.

Look at that gorgeous grey mascara that came out with Fashion Flower - nobody bought it and it's just gangbusters for light colored eyes.

i have caved and created my list for my paint pots im hoping to get.... i can see they are going to be a great asset to my collection.

I like how mac brings out brights and daring things in limited edition collections.. but when that happens it makes me wish that some of it would stay perm. Being a lover of all bright and out there makeup i go crazy over l/e collections to grab what i can. I have started buying a few things from different brands i have been looking at (urban decay & Kryolan) to give me that extra boost of colour that at times mac have missed for me personally. Living in Australia getting access to those brands is alot more difficult so i have turned to the net for many reviews, swatches and online shopping to fill that void.

But in saying that, i still think they are fashion forward and still releasing makeup that is good for the average person and for the working artist.

Well said, Lou!!! I'm the same way. I wear what I want whenever I want. I am not here to please anyone, but myself. I love dark rich lips and I will wear them year round if I want to. I love dramatic eyes as well as subtle eyes, so depending on my mood I wear the colors I want too. I'm big into purple lipsticks & a lot of my friends aren't. They think it's too goth and/or trashy. I could care less. I love them! I love a lot of weird colors and I am going to do what makes me happy not anyone else.

Makeup is so personal and an expression of ones self... It's my way or the highway, I don't follow trends or I get on them after the hype and do it my way, like msf

There is nothing wrong with wearing whatever you want. Not everybody can (or should!) follow every fashion or make up trend.

I simply pointed out the reason for limited edition colors. If they are "your thing," just stock up as they might not come back any time soon.
