I heard a rumour that they were taking over the space where Diva hair salon used to be! Oh my god, there goes my paycheque...

Is it a PRO store or a FREESTANDING? and if it is a pro that is a bunch of crap Edmonton should have the pro store.

I think Calgary has more of a demand for a Pro Store, personally. Aren't there more counters here?
Not sure it will be in Chinook-- I heard they were having a really hard time getting a 'space' in there due to very high demand. Lots of other stores trying to get in there too so the waitlist is long, it's a popular mall.

We have the largest mall in the world and we are the capital.
You'd think that they would want to change the freestanding store into a pro seeing how much success it has had along with it being a big attraction in WEM.
No offence to Calgary, it is good news. Are you sure it's a pro store, none of my MA's have said anything to me about this, and I they would because they know I was planning a special trip to Vancouver for that reason.

Largest mall in the world and being the capital don't make Edmonton bigger population wise. Calgary is booming right now.
I'm not sure if it's an actual Pro store. That's just what I've heard through the grapevine.

What does it matter, whether or not Edmonton is the capital or has a gigantic mall? Victoria is the capital of BC, and it's nothing in comparison to Vancouver.
Anyway, if MAC is opening a Pro store in Calgary, I say, "It's about freaking time." It would be a great resource, especially with the movie industry so strong here. Not to mention the giant disposible incomes that everyone in this city seems to have.

If I recall correctly, West Ed. isn't the largest mall any more. And at either rate, I just think Calgary has more of the population and demographic to support a store.
But I'm glad we're getting one in Alberta in general! 3 hours driving would still have been preferable to having to order sight unseen.
Now I need to find out what Pro items I should check out. Never really been 'into' them before.

And I did Google "world's largest mall". West Edmonton Mall gave up the title in 2003 to Berjaya Times Square, KL, Malaysia, which is 7.5 million square feet, with more than 1000 stores. West Ed. Mall is 5.3 million square feet with 800 stores. Just an interesting tidbit of information.

Sorry to give bad news cause I was upset when I heard it because I wanted my damn pigments.
I just talked to the MA's at our FS store and they said that they were told a MAC (Freestanding) store not a MAC PRO store and that it was going to be a freestanding store opening in April (because they haven't finalized all the hiring and other details) and Edmonton might be getting another FS store.
I hope they are wrong. I guess we'll see.
