Hmm I do see.... Idk. That's tough. I guess it would be the attitude behind the costume. I mean most the costumes I dress up as are a compliment... Not a put down. I dressed up as Nicki Minaj cuz I love her, not cuz I was making fun of her (fake butt and all lol). She's outlandish and I love it. I can't pull it off on my day to day but as a once a year costume, I can. I guess it's up to each person to take from it what they will. Imitation is the best form of flattery in my book =PI get what you're saying, and you seem like a really nice person... I also get what Erine is saying. It's one thing to show the artistry of tattoos. However, it's another thing to call tattoos and winged liner a costume. Imagine being at that YT person's party and they are dressed up as a caricature of YOU. That would be pretty hurtful, wouldn't you agree? When a friend of mine joked about being a hipster for Halloween, I said it wasn't amusing. It's demeaning to people that embrace that identity. Why be a d*ck like that when there are so many other fantastic options? Be creative without putting other people down. That's all I'm saying.

In any case since Divine Nights is kinda disappointing me I'm all excited for this collection.
As for the tattoo thing, hmmm. I think the sentiment behind it would make the difference. I actually would like to try those alcohol-based tattoos for a day or so. Not as a gag but because I'm honestly so curious. I think some tattoos are so beautiful and I'm really impressed by people who choose to embrace that lifestyle. Not the butterfly on the ankle or shooting star on the wrist, but the full sleeves and etc. Its the same way I feel when I see someone in an average setting with green hair and bold makeup.
I really love and admire people who choose to be so publicly different and I just want to approach them and say "You're so cool and I love your whole look and can I be your best friend?"

Dressing up as Nikki Minaj is one thing. (I bet that was a GREAT custume!) But dressing up as a caricature of a group whether it's based on subculture, race, sexual orientation, religion, etc. is in poor taste, IMO. When anyone portrays stereotypes, it serves to put down that group rather than positively portray them. This is why Miley's appropriation of what she thinks is black culture is offensive and demeaning. This is also why blackface, in which white folks pretended to be black in "entertaining" minstrel shows, served as a way to reinforce anti-black racism after slavery was supposed to end. Anyway, I am glad Rick Baker chose to do Bride of Frankenstein and not, like, making a white girl into a geisha. He really shows what makeup can do with imagination.

Ya I suppose so! Sorry if you all are bikers lol! I dressed up like them. My parents friends thought I was hysterical cuz I'm not very bikerish. I guess it was in poor taste but eh, oh well. I like that you're curious about what it would be like to be tattooed, as opposed to having a tattoo, as there is a difference. And i totally don't mind people approaching me and commenting about my tattoos, just as lomg as they don't ask me what they mean, why i got them, feel the need to show me theirs (I'm good thanks!) or touch mine!

Sadly many people still live in their tiny little boxes always afraid of what others might say. I remember wearing cyber to school one day and getting looks (good and bad) and even some girl jokingly asking if I was wearing it for Halloween (in Feb). I rolled my eyes and said "Good or bad in my own way at least I stand out while you blend in with the rest :/". It takes confidence to walk out of your house covered in art, and for some even wearing a red lip is daring....but judgy misconceptions no longer have a place in this day and age

This purple is giving me life. I'm already plot how I going to get this Lipstick. This is what I thought Smoked Purple would have looked like (still love it). I all for this lipstick. Matte check, Purple check. So happy that I found this site.
