MAC Strength Collection Discussion (December 2012)

This might be strongest lipstick I have ever owned and none of that cakey crackhead mouth either. I hate when as a lipstick fades it feathers And rebel is a "stainer" and this has nothing on rebel Best matte ever

That makes perfect sense. That's how I would describe Hot Chocolate on me. A taupe mauve. It's such a weird lipstick!

You know, I am sitting here with my giant pile of lipsticks, but since yesterday, I've only worn the balms. My lips had been pretty chapped, but now they feel nice and smooth. But now, it's time for lipstick and I don't even know where to begin…..

I think I should go for Hot Chocolate, just because it's the most off-beat color out of this whole batch of Strength/AC. Yay for weird lipsticks!

SI, SW and Heroine are different enough that I'm glad I got them all. OT: Has anyone seen Wives with Beehives on TLC I think? It's a reality show about women (apparently there are alot of them out there) who live their lives stuck in a 50s time warp. Perfect show for 50s and pinup lovers! Shelby looks like she's wearing Heroine at her party. 

Im on second season of mad men (yea I'm a lil late to the party) and all of their lipsticks are so pretty I forgot what a beautiful era that was..so ladylike and proper. Perfect housewives all trim. I'll check that out

TS is dramatic enough for me, then! If Notorious ever comes back around, I'll want to see it, but it sounds like I might not have enough cheekbone to handle that explosive material…..

Notorious is more like slight mauved, taupe fireplace ashes

but it really works.

I think Hot Chocolate is Rad baby. A modern twist to an old color. I'm going to wear it with Budding or Stark Naked blush or Blushbaby

Please recommend lip liners for: Party parrot, piPi, absolute power and SW

For Party Parrot I like MAC Lasting Sensation or MUFE 16C if I want to accentuate the fuchsia undertones. I don't have Pink Pigeon, but I do have Nars Schiap (I heard it's VERY similar) and I like the MUFE 16C pencil for this one too. I guess MAC Embrace Me or any other fuchsia lip pencil would work for both lipsticks!

For Party Parrot I used NYX's Hot Pink. I got a nice red lip with Absolute Power & NYX's Plush Red.

CartoonChic is the lipliner expert around here so I'm sure she'll post some more recommendations.

I've been "liking" so many posts, I got Like-Blocked!

Mid-tone dirty mauve/taupe with a light application for me - then with an extra layer, it turned into the perfect replica of my 90's Poppy King lipstick - 100% taupe, the definition of 90's taupe. It's reminding me of every darn office cubicle, carpet color, and business lady gear from that era. Oh the nostalgia! I had a Poppy King matte that looked exactly like Cozy Up too, so I'm having double nostalgia tingles.

I stuck a little of the pale pink Mineralize balm on top and it totally erased the brown cast and brought it into the rose taupe zone, which is even nicer. And because those balms blot down so well, I was able to bring it back down to a satin finish effect while still keeping the lightening from the balm. Wow, I'm having a next level makeup experience here

I don't usually get this worked up.

Russian red looks similar to charmed I'm sure- which makes me feel better about selling it to get absolute power lol

Geesh, thats kinda "you're too nice, so we're not going to like you" punishment. Did not know that even existed.

Ooh, I think I will have to try that with the balm. I didn't get any ...yet

I was on vacation when Marilyn came out (cruise and data charges would have killed me) Devasted I didn't get my jeeper creepers paws on the Marilyn reds

...I'm pretty frustrated and exhausted with MAC at this point!

I've been sick and wasn't sure if I would be able to get to a MAC store when the collection came out, so I decided to place an order online for Absolute Power, Party Parrot, Pink Pigeon, Haute Altitude. One of each.

When I didn't receive a shipping confirmation e-mail on the 27th, I called MAC Customer Service to check the status of my package and she said the lipsticks have been shipped, excluding Party Parrot cause it's sold out. I said, "Oh, but when I placed my order Party Parrot was in stock

" etc. She said Boxing Day was a holiday and they're just updating everything now.

I called my MAC store to see if they had any lipsticks in stock and the girl said she would hold Party Parrot & Absolute Power for me and asked when will I come pick them up and I said 7 PM (after I get off work).

When I arrived at the mall, I happened to be in The Bay (similar to Macy's in the states) and checked the 2 MAC counters they have...and they both didn't have the Strength collection, only Apres Chic

. So I continued to make my way to the MAC store.

I told the MA I had 2 lipsticks on hold for me and she checked and there weren't any

... I told her what I wanted anyway: 2 Party Parrots, 1 Absolute Power (back up), 1 Pink Pigeon (back up). But when I got home, I realized she put 2 Absolute Powers instead of Party Parrot

. This is a reminder to always double-check my bag before leaving the store.

Also, I asked her out of curiosity why don't the counters have the Strength collection, and she said she doesn't know

lol.

Today, I finally got a shipping confirmation from MAC saying my order has been shipped. But it says Party Parrot has been included in the order:






OK, now I'm really confused

I don't know if I'll have 2 Party Parrots or 3 Absolute Powers, which I don't need. My package won't arrive until Jan 2 or 3.

I tried to check my transactions to see how much they charged my credit card (if it's $61 for 3 lipsticks), but that's not updated either.

If Party Parrot isn't included in my order, I should exchange Absolute Power for Party Parrot at the store tomorrow. Ughh....I don't want to wait until the 2nd or 3rd to do it cause the lipsticks might be sold out by then.

I don't have Temperature Rising and my Entertain Me is still misplaced. But those bright orange pencils would make Party Parrot look like I'm wearing a glow stick on my lips.

I'd like to see you pull that off--the glow stick that is...

Same! Russian Red pulls more brown on me so I prefer wearing CIS
