^Haha, I don't let my boyfriend know how much $ I spend on makeup. He doesn't support me, of course, but I don't wanna hear how I could use my MU money on other things. (And I don't think he tells me how much he spends on tools either lol)

My bf saw me reading reviews on MUA the other day and he said to me: "Why dont you just flush money down the toilet instead or stick it to your face. It'll be the same."

Aw, that sounds so mean. I don't think most guys will ever understand anything about our makeup obsession. With us, its more of a don't ask-don't tell kinda thing. As long as we have money for plane tickets to see each other.

Shame on Liam! I know he adores you, but he likely does not realize how much a statement like that would hurt you.

I agree! Shame on Liam! He could play cards or take a walk instead of wasting money on his Xbox.

That's an awfull thing to say, very hurtfull IMO (and my bf agrees with me on that 100%).

I would be so mad and hurt if a person whom I love dearly and passionately would ever say such a thing about something that's important to me and immidiately slash something very hurtfull back about a thing that they care for. I just would not tolerate that kind of behaviour and would take it as a personal insault. For me it would be the same as saying "It doesn't matter what you put on your face your still fugly".

Ouch... what a mean thing to say... Every one can play with the toys they want IMO. After that, it's a question of personal taste and respect.

Oh, ITA. You hit the nail right on the head. It's extremely dismissive of something that we all enjoy so much. I think it was very unnecessary and he shouldn't even comment on how you spend your money, least of all so bluntly.

Sorry, Moxy.

WTF2.gif

My ex-boyfriend once told me: "For every new makeup product you buy, you must throw an old one away."

Our relationship was already over at this time, I guess. I left him one month later.

Love means for me to respect each other the way you are and support each other as best as you can.
My boyfriend now would never say a negative word to my MAC. He said he liked it if it would make me happy. (Thank you!

PS: I buy it all from my own money

I finally made my hubby understand by reminding him that he loves his video games and EVERY TIME a new driving game or hockey game or Lara Croft game or Grand Theft Auto game or other role playing game comes out he buys them, even though he already has every other one ever made, and he'll keep buying them no matter how many he has or how similar they might be to each other... He gets it now.

^^My boyfriend had told me if I got rid of a bunch of my older makeup that I don't really use that he would start buying me MAC too. So I did. I didn't realize how much stuff I have taht I don't use. I gave some to my little sisters and I have a small box of stuff to swap. And so he has spent several hundred dollars on my MAC.

So I guess he supports my makeup obsession, but I'd just prefer he didn't know how much I actually buy every month.

I agree, it did hurt but he will never ever understand, so me ignoring him when he says things like that is the best way of avoiding a fight. I refuse to fight over things like that as it'd be just going in circles - him blaming me for spending my money on make up and me blaming him for spending his money on Xbox video games.

The stronger and smarter stops the quarrel. I always stand up for myself when needed, trust me, but we've been down the make up road so many times it's pointless to do it again and again and again...

AND i'm trying to convince him to order some Hello Kitty for me when it's out in UK. If he does that, he's forgiven for his stupid words.

Thanks for the swatches and facecharts, Erine! I'm with you on not being all that excited for it, with the exception of shadesticks.

Mr. stv578 would completely agree with that statement. Don't let it get to you, he probably actually means well in some twisted sort of way!!!

My hubby didnt say anything about my makeup collection. But I feel that he is showing his support by buying some MAC for me during my birthdays, valentines or any other special days. And I am very grateful for that!

But one weird thing is, he dislike me spending $$ on clothes & shoes. Maybe its because for majority of my clothes and shoes, I just wore them once & if its not comfortable & never wear them again.

But to me makeup/clothes/shoes are the same,as long as the money spent is about the same! Also my habits of using makeup/clothes/shoes are the same. I will only use my favourites all the time and for the rest, I only use them when I remember or want some changes.
