MAC The Matte Lip Collection (May 28/ June 4, 2015)

Released today, went today to my nearest freestanding, and B2Med for MR. It's intensely blue-violet on me, almost a "neon" violet (or at least that dark bluish-violet glow under blacklights), and easily the bluest violet in my stash. I was playing around with it to sort-of dupe OCC Technopagan. Inglot AMC lip gloss #541 is a milky translucent gloss with a blacklit/neon bluish-purple glow, so that layered over MR or an ombre of black/darker purple with MR as the lighter shade is pretty damn close. I am very happy with this tube of matte neon-ish violet gorgeousness!

Just got my black box with whirl and stone. Stone is a winner for me for sure. I like it better than SIS on me. I went into MAC at the mall and tried on MR. DFD and TT and none of them really did it for me. I wanted to leave with someithing so bad so I left with MLM. It's basically RRB in a less matte finish. Not too crazy about it since I have RRB. DFD was nice but not nice enough for me to take it home. I purchases WAAAAYYYY too many reds this year alone and it wasn't something that I felt I would want to use. I wanted to walk away with something so I looked thru the permanent collection and fell IN LOOOOVVVEE with Relentlessly Red!!! I LOVE IT!! I don't know why it took so long for me to pick this up. I also pick up Flamingo. Such a pretty color for the summer season. I wanted to walk out with Costa Chic (tried this on and fell in love with it too) but both MAC stores in the mall were sold out.

Got my Whirl today, shows up pretty brown on my skintone NW15, but I will have to play with it more.
Swatches from top left: Whirl, Boca, Oxblood, Velvet Teddy, Twig, Pander Me. Can you tell I like this type of shade?
Damn! These swatches are gorgeous!
And now I feel stupid to have missed Boca!
But Twig is almost prettier ...on you. I'll go try it!

It is a very dark, somewhat cool brown, like a true dark chocolate bar. I may go back for it because i think all the really dark browns i have are warmer toned. I will just have to remind myself not to eat the lipstick out of the tubeAntique Velvet looks really brown in your swatch. I am certain it would not work for me.

It's a slightly odd color, which attracts me, rather yellowish. I have no problem wearing dark violet, metallic green, mint, deep blue, sky blue, grey, or metallic olive green lip colors. It's the bright pinks, oranges, and reds i avoid.Quote: Originally Posted by lilinah

Honestly anyone can pull off NT with the right liner... Strip down for fair to medium ladies, Cork for medium to dark ladies, and Chestnut for darker ladies... It all depends on personal preference too
I posted about buying from this collection 5 hours and 34 minutes ago and about 5 hours and 30 minutes ago I put on Men Love Mystery. I like that even tho it's a strong color it isn't real bright. The guy at the local barbecue i frequent said i looked nice, and i know he wasn't flirting, so i think it's a winner

I wore Whirl today and it was awful on me. There is zero pink in it on my in NW10 skin tone. I don't have Whirl liner but I'm going to try it with Soar at some point and see if that helps. Otherwise I am so disappointed

I got my black box yesterday and I was disappointed. Most of the lipsticks did not do anything for me. Basically if I was in the store shopping I would not have bought any of the lipsticks I ordered online. I will be returning MLM and STONE. Men Love Mystery – It’s not bad it’s just that I have so many colors like this in my collection. It’s kind of hard to get excited about a color that looks like the colors I already have in my collection. I definatly like RiRi Boy way better. RRB is so much more in your face and MLM seems more toned down like nothing that special at least to me. I think the different finishes is what is separating the two. I really don’t need this in my collection it will just sit there for years because I have other lippies I can reach for that look just like MLM. Whirl – I was really worried about this on because it seemed to lean more brown. I was hoping it would not look like I got poopoo lips. Actually it turned out to not be as bad as I thought. It leans brown on me but there seems to be a color in there that gives it some life. It almost seems like just a PINCH of pink. It blends in with my skin tone but what I like is that I am able to see the separation between my skin and lips but it is pinkish but 80% more brown. The problem was that I already have similar colors. I will do some comparison swatches online Friday Stone - I look like I got smokers lips. I’m going to give this lipstick one more shot with makeup on. To go from pinkish lips to crack head lips is not a good look for me.

I feel the exact same way about Stone. It makes me look like I have smokers lips. I hate it. It is definitely not for me.
D for Danger looks like a deeper more pigmented color. However, when I tried them on I definitely preferred Heaux. A retro matte will win everything time in my book.WOC Heaux (top) and D is for Danger (bottom) comparison with flash
There was nothing super special about this collection unless you like Matte Royal. I can't pull off that shade. It may be all in my head. MLM is RRB is a less matte finish, for sure. DFD is okay but it was not unique. I wish it was in a retro matte too. Relentlessly Red is a pretty summer shade. I am sure you will get a lot of use out of it.

I will have my pretties later today or next weekend. My husband is near 5 MAC locations, and I am near none. He dutifully took a bunch of empties to the store yesterday, and picked up MLM, MR, and Stone. I can imagine it was scary and confusing for him. He had a list of explicit instructions, and a copy of a live chat that stated I could B2M.
I want them in my greedy mitts now lol. When he gets here, I may push him out of the way to get to my lippies!

Looks like you prepared him well.
