MAC - To The Beach Discussion

so I was supposed to stay away from these threads but I don't know what happened
After seeing the swatches, I think I will get one of the lipsticks, prob Lazy Day in addition to Hipness blush. Nothing else is really screaming at me. I already have Rated R so no Sweet and Punchy for me. I'm too lazy for cream bronzers so those are also a pass. Firecracker is a maybe, I hardly ever use orange eyeshadows and already got #5 and #18 from MUFE

I cannot skip Sweet & Punchy e/s since I have Rated "R" e/s. Chartreuse eyeshadows are going to be hot for the summer! I can also picture myself backing up Hipness blush!

why oh why couldn't chartreuse pigment be one of the pro pigments that are being launched at counters! if it was then i could wear to work!

I was at MAC today and had the chance to look through the Look Book from the MA’s summer update session. In it, I found this list of color substitutions for many of the To The Beach collection:
- Beachbound = Gel
- Lazy Day = Angel
- Funbathing = Sophito
- Thrills = Jist
- Splashing = Cultured
- Easy Lounger = Luminary lip glass
- Flurry of Fun = Moth to Flame dazzle glass
- Sand & Sun = Samoa Silk
- Firecracker = Coppering
- Sweet & Punchy = Bitter
- Float on By = Navy Stain powerpoint pencil
- Temperatures Rising = Morange lipstick
- Life’s a Breeze = Angel lipstick
- Get Away Bronze = Sweet as Cocoa and Gingerly
- Hipness = Fleur Power
- Marine Life = Dame
- Beach Bronze = Refined Golden Bronzer

Alright, I've made my final list. If any changes will be made, it'll be to subtract items.
I want:
Marine Life (must have #1!)
Hipness Blush
Funbathing and Lazy Day lipstick
Splashing Lipglass
Firecracker and shadows (I might skip this, but we'll see)
So my total is 101.50 so far. Pretty damn good I say. However, I'm not truly excited about the collection as a whole like I was in the beginning. Just want my hands on the first 2 items I listed. After the awesomeness of pret-A-Papier, I might just skip the lippies, too. I think I may have too many now.

Seeing this list of dupes just crushed my list down to Pink Rebel lustre drops and Float On By eye kohl. (Navy Stain is not a good enough substitute--no way is that turquoise!)

Just keep in mind that the substitutes are not exact matches (case in point---Navy Stain for FOB...
My list so far is still the same, with the exception of the lip pencils. I think I need to swatch them IN PERSON. Thank goodness I've been saving my BTM for this collection---I can get all the lippies on my list + one of the eyeshadows, which makes the fact that I *HAVE* to have the beach bag easier to justify!!

Definitely. I don't know but I really think that navy stain is too flat... Hope it isn't a dupe at all.

Glad to learn Life's A Breeze pencil's a good dupe for Angel lipstick! I'll be getting that for sure to use with my light pink lipsticks

I am getting a little more excited for this collection now that swatches are out (Erine you are the greatest!). We have been blessed with a warmer than usual winter and now spring so I am dying to get the summer colors out.
I still haven't made a final list but I know that I will be backing up Hipness and possibly getting the Marine Life highlighter. My MUA says the bronzing oil is amazing so that might sneak into my cart. Not sure about shadows or lippies just yet as I just got new pieces from NARS summer (Burn It Blue cream shadow duo, Enchanted cream blush) and Chanel summer (Super l/s).
