This may seem like a strange question but what does rancid lipglass smell and look like? Is it sour or something? I'd like to know so I can check mine. I have a lot of MAC lipglasses. Thanks
for me it a strong smell that makes my nose burn and I just have to take it off right away

No lipglass for me. I have way too many, so I have to be more selective and finish up some glosses before they go bad. Just the blushes and lipsticks for me. :sigh:

That's what I'm thinking too but the Oxblood and Barbecue lipglasses are so pretty. *sigh*

last year I bought a couple of pastel colored lipglasses (from Playland and Novel Romance) and now they seem to have, like, cracked. There are those ridges in the texture that are filled with clear liquid. When I stir them up with the wand, though, the texture emulgates for a short time again. Don't really know how to explain this in English. I thought it might be caused by certain ingredients in those pastel-ish formulas. I've barely used them, so I'm quite disappointed in Mac lipglasses. I got some older ones like VG Nicky I and those are still all right.
I wouldn't worry unless you notice the smell is off. I think it's likely because of the ingredients in the pastel formulas, as you said.

thanks, it's nice that someone agrees that they are still ok. I've already checked all my glosses today and there's none smelling rancid. They all got the typical vanilla scent.

I've sniffed out every single lipglass, including my dazzleglasses, cremesheen and pro longwear lipglass... They all smell and applied ok. My Nacho Cheese Explosion has a mixture of blue and pink in it, but that was from me mixing it with a blue lipstick, Lavender Whip and CYY (not at the same time, obviously)

All these posts about the rancid issue are making me want to just skip the Sin lipglass and get two liippies instead of a lipstick and a lipglass.

I just sniffed all of my lipglasses

I have only one that smells full on vanilla. Most of them either have a very faint vanilla scent or just a more neutral scent (a little like plastic or playdough). Some have no scent at all.
Is that really such a bad thing? I don't feel like throwing my entire collection away

Yeah, I'm really second guessing getting the lipglasses now. I mean, I don't think they will arrive flat out rancid, but I know I don't wear lipglass anywhere as much as lipstick so there is the possibility that they will turn bad before I come close to finishing them.

If it smells gross pitch it. Otherwise it could be fine. I held onto my lipglasses for years bc I didn't reach for them that offen. I buy a tube of the clear lipglass and buy lipsticks instead. If i want a new gloss i buy creamsheen glasses or dazzleglass. Or other brand lipglosses. I have had a lot of lipglasses go bad in the past 2 years so unless its one I am going to wear alot I just skip it. I have a hello kitty one and a few limited ed ones that smell fine or like nothing. I think it's fine just use your judgement.

Now I'm gonna go home and smell all my lipglasses lol. I know when I got Modern Lure (quite awhile after it was released) it smelled kind of off. Not bad but definitely not the regular vanilla. I love lipglasses so I really hope the problems been fixed!

I have lipglasses as old as 4 or 5 years old that still smell fine. Then I have newer ones that started to smell rancid very quickly. I'll use my 5 year old lipstick over some of the ones I've gotten in the past year! I won't toss them until they smell "off". I expect them to lose some of their vanilla scent so that doesn't bother me. You can tell when they start to go rancid, though.

I really need to start using my glosses (not just MAC). I still have ones from Pedro that haven't been loved enough.

But I concur, Nyx's butter glosses are amazeballs and I can't wait to try the intense versions.

T's Swatches and review of the other lipsticks (not including Sin):

I'm leaning towards just Oxblood. I have too many things that are too similar.
