Mattes and shimmers?

Can you mix them, or is that the makeup equivalent of wearing white shoes past Labor Day?

Ok, never really paid attention to the shoe rule, but yanno what I mean..is it a faux pas to mix mattes and shimmers?

Even if ur not supposed to i do to me there is no rules in makeup. They also say not to do dark eyes with dark lips but u no what i do ha don't care u have fun girly!!

Definitely not a faux pas! In fact, I think it is encouraged. Mixing eyeshadow finishes adds visual interest and depth. I love doing a shimmery lid with a matte darker colour in the outer corner and crease. Personally I'm not a fan of using all frost finishes for one eye look since it can be a little overwhelming; a matte colour can help with that.

I actually think you should. Using all shimmers tends to make shadows look... muddy or something.

It's hard to add depth to your look when that dark brown has a bright gold sheen

No. I think wearing too much shimmer can sometimes look like a person is just glitter. I think matte by itself can occasionally look too flat

I mix them all the time! And I agree, makeup has NO rules!
