Metal-X Creasing Survey

I just got pure ore and while i ABSOLUTELY love the color, it creases enough to the point where i'm not comfortable wearing it for a 9-hour day.

I really want to make this collection work though. I have read some of you using a special primer or something and experienced no creasing after 11 hours...so i am just wondering, what primers have you guys used? Also could you please include whether or not you have oily lids or if you used a special application technique?

thanks in advance

I used UDPP, and powder in a similar colour to set it. I also use smashbox primer underneath the UDPP. I find they metal x shadows last longer when applied with a sponge brush or your finger. I have normal to dry lids.

I had absolutely no creasing after 8 hours. I use a base of BE bisque multitasking minerals all around my eye lids & underneath. I used my fingers to apply the shadow. I then tried it without any base the next day, and still no creasing. I have normal to dry skin. It must depend on each persons skin.

Ugh, this is why I hate cream shadows. At the same time, I'm thankful Metal X e/s is cream, because it makes them very easy for me to resist.

I have normal-oily skin and UDPP is a must. Accidentally went without yesterday with these and it was not pretty at the end of the day. Fortunately, I don't walk around with my eyes closed, so it wasn't really obvious to anyone else... but I didn't like it! Anyway, they work great for me so long as I don't forget to prime!

I wore it today as my base and Engaging MSF eyeshadow duo over it from 8:30am to 6pm with no creasing at all

I wore mines yesterday and it didn't crease as much as I thought it would. I wore it with UDPP and and my UD green e/s. The MUA told me that the 239 brush makes it easier to apply the metal-x e/s which makes it go on smoother.

I was pretty disappointed with the metal x cream e/s. Benefit Cream E/s are way way better and don't crease at all. I thought the metal x ones were very greasy and not worth my while. I can't be bothered to fuss with too many primers when you could just use a powder e/s that is just as beautiful. I thought that for a quick photoshoot or something the colours are fab, but for every day use, eh... not for me...

The MUA at the counter said it was a little trick that they learned from another professional MUA

I wore Goldspice today for about 4 hours and no creasing. If it was going to crease on me it would have by then. I really liked it. The texture of the shadow is nice. It's not completely creamy like the ccbs. I also realized that a little goes a long way. I applied the shadow over bare canvas paint using a spongetip. I then used my finger to blend it a little. I dudted with a little amber lights and I was good to go.

the other day a MA put on 6th sin on her lid with no base because we wanted to see if it would crease without a base and it literally creased before our eyes. an hour lady there was a definite crease. but i still love them! i have not had any problem with creasing whilst using a paint pot with them.

I wore mine today with mk eye primer and then BE bisque all over that. Then I applied the Metal-X and then my crease color (powder) over that. I applied it with the 242 brush and then kind of "pushed" it in a little more with my finger. I found the texture a little hard to work with and difficult to get on the brush, but the effect was worth it. It didn't start to crease until after about 6 hours and then it was only minimal creasing. I couldn't really notice unless I got close to the mirror and closed one eye. I have normal lids. HTH

This shadow is not meant to be an all-over color on most people, folks. Check the description online:

"An extremely luxurious highlight/finish for eyes, cheeks and skin."

Do your whole eye, then press this in as the brow highlight or on the center of the lid (not the crease) and you'll have no problems.

I used 3 bases and I was fine (UDPP, MAC prep & prime for eyes and paint). lol Because the Metal X are thick cream shadows anyway, its better to have a thicker base as well to hold it in place. Thats my 2 cents. And you need to top it off with shadow IF you are using it as an eye color.

I use Fusion Gold on my cheeks and have no problem. Its lovely <3

I just put it over a shadow like claressauntie suggested...I have OILY, OILY, OILY lids. Put your primer and shadow on like usual, then pop a similar Metal-X color over that with your finger. Mine lasted 12 hours this way.

NP! Maybe try Humid underneath if you have it. Also, it seems like less is more with these shadows.

I work in the healthcare field, running my butt off for 8 to 10 hour shifts without sitting down. Today I wore Metal X plum electric just on my lids. And used the Antiquitease cool palette shades over the plum electric for a smokey purple/silver eye look.

I put UDPP and paint pot underneath. After a 10 hr shift, I noticed just slight creasing at my inner corner. Otherwise no other creasing at all. And it wasn't noticeable. I have very oily oily lids. But if you play around with the shadows and pair them with regular eyeshadows, the Metal X shadows will work. I think everyone either loves the shadows or hates it. But only way to tell is to try them out for yourself to see if it'll work for you.

I asked the MA at Mac what to use to stop these from creasing and she said use a Mac Painterly paint pot under them and only use a small amount...
