Mom's cancer has spread

Your mother is in my thoughts and prayers. It's really unfortunate that things like this happen to good people. I too have dealt with my mom having cancer, and I know how hard it can be. One thing I can advice you is to keep her spirits up, and always tell her that you love her. Also remember that people can overcome cancer. Just look at LAnce Armstrong. His cancer spread, yet recovered fully and won the tour-de-france marathon.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

My mom had surgery 2 weeks ago and it went well. They believe they got all of the cancer- apparently the tumor was optimal for operation- and they implanted a chemo wafer to treat the surrounding area in her brain.

I took the last 2 weeks off to be at home with her and she is doing very well. She is still pretty confused and often has a difficult time finding the right words to describe whatever thought she is having.

Although the situation was difficult, I had a wonderful time with her and in some ways, this recent event was a blessing as I got to do many things with her I wouldn't have done otherwise.

Just wanted to let everyone know that their thoughts and comments are so appreciated! Thanks again!

I'm very glad to hear that her operation was sucessful and she's doing well at home with her family. Though my mother didn't have an operation she was in a car accident that caused a serious head injury, so I can understand exactly what you mean when you describe her inability to formulate thoughts with precision. I'm also really happy to hear that you were able to spend time that you valued with your family, it makes me realize that it's never too late to reconnect with loved ones. Thank you for the update.
