I heard that chapstick is bad for it anyway so what do i do?

Also if anyone could tell me where in the store do you find the monistat chafing cream I would appreciate it! Like what aisle?

Thanks

Have you tried Aquaphor? Some people say it's just glorified Vaseline but I hate the smell Vaseline comes with, so Aquaphor works for me. You can use it on your hands, feet, elbows - wherever - and it does a pretty good job of keeping things moist. Especially good if you wear it overnight. HTH!

I hear you about the Chapstick. Ugh I decided to buy some to make sure my purse always had one. but man it is not helping. it covers them but doesn't make them feel moisturized or help them not to chap. I'm thinking I need to throw them out but its frustrating! *but* if it doesn't work it doesn't work.

You know what REALLLY has been working for me? (And is evident since its my first lip thing I'm really working my way down the pot on) is M·A·C Cosmetics | Lip Conditioner SPF 15
lovely vanilla smell, I put it on when I remember during the day and it makes my lips look all soft and slightly damp, and I'll put it on at night
and in the morning my lips are so freaking soft, its awesome and has made my lips so great this winter (when I remember to put it on! ><)

I've not tried the tinted ones so can't comment on those, but this "plain" one I LOVE and will so be buying it again!!

*~*I would recommend C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve. I've been using this since September, and my lips have never been so moisturized. I like this one much better than the Smith's Rosebud Salve because the C.O. Bigelow Salve has a much more pleasant scent (like roses & baby powder)...it also gives a nice shine too. It comes in a 0.8 oz. tin (you get a lot for $5!!!)...I use it mostly at night (& my Clinique Superbalm Gloss during the day), & my lips haven't been chapped since!! HTH!!

i have had the same problem for such a long time.
they feel like they have a hard plastic coating over them in the mornings, and then during the day they start to flake and then it's just the same thing the next morning.
it feels good when i first put stuff on my lips, but then a few hours later huge chunks will peel off.
i hate it!!

i've never found a solution and i feel like i've tried everything. i'm going to give the aquaphor thing a try.

put on lots of vaseline and let it sit for about five minutes, then brush it off with an old toothbrush. that will remove any dead skin cells that are on your lips making them look flaky. after that, sleep with a generous coat of vaseline on your lips every night.

i swear by burt's bees for the daytime!

This sounds really weird, but I exfoliate my lips with scotch tape every two or three days. Just press it down on your lips and gently pull off. Then smear on an above-mentioned lip balm.

I have really bad dry lips too and exfoliating with a washcloth or a toothbrush really helps, and definitely increase your water intake! Dry lips are often a sign of dehydration. I also like carmex or vaseline's lip therapy (both are in the squeeze tubes, not the sticks). HTH!

I sleep with Lip Fusion for the last month. It is so emolliant it doesn't come off. The bonus is -I get to wake up with puffy soft smooth lips. My regular balms did not do that for me. ( I read one too many 5 star review on MUA, and I had to give it a go)

vaseline and a dry toothbrush are my best friend for chapped lips!!

i NEVER get chapped lips no more and its because of this routine:

apply a big dollop of vaseline all over lips before you go to bed (doesnt matter if you go outside your natural lipline... this will work even better!)

next grab a dry toothbrush... scrub your lips til they tingle

then wipe off all the vaseline, and if theres any more chapped areas, do the scrubbing step again until satisfied

once all the dry bits have been exfoliated away...

apply more vaseline, then when you wake up in the morning you will have the softest lips ever and applying lip products will feel like a dream

I must be missing out, I've always thought exfoliating my lips would be too rough (I cringed as I read several of you wrote toothbrush, but seriously I think I'm going to give it a try).

Do you just exfoliate them if you feel like they are flaky/rough? Or do you do it every few days like a face exfoliator?

i do it like twice a week... it feels like it plumps them more too as if the blood rushes to them and makes them look/feel fuller

i use smith's rosebud salve and its okay, i wouldn't repurchase it though. aquafina has a lip oil i tried and i didnt care for that either.

wearing whatever u get overnight is a must though, put a nice thick layer on and let ur lips soak it in all night

i exfoliate my lips everynight in the shower with a washcloth. then i apply a tendertone to them. in the morning, i keep reapplying the tendertone throughout my makeup and hair routine. throughout the day i apply either burts bees or my lipgloss. and when im at work and my lips feel dry, i use the lipconditioner spf 15 (just until the tendertones come back!

) i can't stand the feeling of having naked lips! i always have to have something on them.

Exfoliate or you won't feel results.
Drink plenty of water.
Don't lick you lips!
Then every night, apply vaseline/any lip conditioner, and when you wake up, you will have glorious lips! I think it works better at night when you're relaxed, your lips will drink in the moisture. Which is why it's bad to sleep in make-up because your skin will drink in the foundation. So why not use that in a good way and let your lips drink in the conditioner?

WATER..WATER...WATER...drink as much water as you can stand. My lips get bad in the winter months. I have to say ROSEBUD's STRAWBERRY LIP BALM is my savior. If I could, I would buy it by the case. That lil tin last forever. When my lips get really bad I like to use cocoa butter lip balm at night before I go to bed. When I wake up my lips look and feel so much better.
