No Blush?

So I may be one of the only girls in this camp, but basically, in a nutshell, I don't think I like blush. (This may be because I've never found the right one for me, but I'm going to skip past that for a second to make a case for why I don't like it.)

I rarely use makeup, so I think I'm just unused to seeing colour on my face. When I do use makeup, I tend to go for eye colour, and pair it with a shimmery nude lipstick (or often, just a chapstick because my lips are naturally pigmented anyway.) I avoid putting colour on cheeks or on my contour. I just don't like the look of it...

I'm not sure of my skin colour in the MAC range, but I have two concealers in NC30 and NW30 that I blend together on different areas of my face for concealer purposes. I'm a typical half-asian (half-filipina to be exact).

So I just wanna know, are there any other girls out there who avoid blush? Am I the only one who does?

Should I just break down and try NARS' orgasm? :/

I used to not like blush, but I didn't know what I was doing when I applied it.
My suggestion is to play around with blushes and find what you are comfortable with.

I'm an absolute blush whore. I won about 50 blush/cheek products and am always hunting for more. I think blush or highlight makes a look really complete, but not everybody likes it or chooses to wear it.

I agree with triccc's suggestion to play around see if maybe you can find a color for yourself before you give up on it completely. But if it seems like a hassle, maybe a nice cheekstain or other similar product.

Well, I've tried these: Dior Blush, Clinique Innocent Peach, Clinique Sunset Glow (both of the Cliniques seemed to take forever to show up at all, and by the time they did, I didn't like either of the colours), two types of PUPA blush, Ruby & Millie cheek colour in Brown, The Body Shop lip and cheek stain (which I wore for my wedding but the time it takes to use it properly on a daily basis so it doesn't look clownish is too much for me).

I'm wondering if there are any ladies out there 3with an asian skintone who don't use blush, or if there are any suggestions for a very natural, maybe slightly glowy/sparkly, blush to try.

I think the key is not only finding a product/shade you like, but also - and maybe more importantly - using a verrrry light hand. I didn't used to use blush either, but applying with a very light hand is what made the difference for me. Now I really love it.

I don't wear blush, either. I don't wear a lot of makeup period (some eye makeup and lip color at most for daily wear). I'm Asian, too

I have seen blush on me that looks gorgeous. Benefit's Dandelion looked radiant, as well as the classic Nars Orgasm.

Even if you don't like color you could use something like Taupe blush just under you cheekbones to add some contour to your face.

Yeah, I've tried that with a contour colour (some brown thing I can't remember the name of) and I *kinda* liked it. I've got a new 187 so I'm gonna try to do it again - this time with the 187 - and see how I get on.

I used to not even own any blushes. But once I started using them, I realized how much better my face looked. It can add shadow and contour to your face, or give you a really healthy natural glow. I don't have a ton of blushes, but I do love using them. You don't necessarily have to choose a really bright one, you can use a very light neutral toned one to make it look really natural.

I don't use blush very often because I'm really pale and I just don't want to look like a clown. I'm thinking of trying Orgasm too though. It looks like it would suit most skin tones.

*nod* It's why I'm tempted, but the other side of me says, "Meh! I don't wanna look like everyone else!"

I'd given up on blush completely and then I saw your tutorial recently for the 'soft and girly' look. I immediately tried your tutorial and was extremely pleased.... until it came to the blush. I tried one of my blushes, but I was just disappointed with my result - either it wasn't there at all (Clinique) or it just failed to give me the natural glow I was looking for. I blended for all I'm worth, and the result still just wasn't right. I think it's a combination of wrong blush colour and wrong texture/finish, and my inability to figure out how to place the colour in such a way that de-emphasies evil round face (hehe I call it my Moonpie Face) and brings out my cheekbones. Meh!

I would say I need some highlight/contour on my face.... if you don't want *BLUSH* Right shade of BLUSH brightens up my dull face in the morning especially on those special says !

I really don't wear blush much...I actually dropped mine and it broke and I threw it out.....that was about 2 years ago, lol.

I did like it when I applied it lightly, otherwise it just looked silly.

I want to get orgasm when I get paid in a couple weeks.

Blush can be beautiful when applied correctly and the right shade. I actually just got Nars Orgasm and i love it. It is really soft and looks natural on me. It give a little pinky peach colour but doesn't look like blush.

i would go to a counter and ask them to try a blush on you that suits your skin. Tell them what you want and ask them to show you how to apply it.

Blush just scares me!Probably because I have no idea what shade to pick for my skin tone..any time that I have tried to use it, I just look like a clown!!

I think blush, like all makeup, takes a while before you find the right shade(s) and find the right technique that fits your face and taste.

When I first started wearing makeup, I avoided blush because I was terrible with my application technique. After many years I have warmed up to it and have gotten better at using it.

Here are a few things I think may help:

1. Good brushes make all the difference.
2. Start with a more neutral or less bright/bold colour. This way, if you over-apply you won't end up looking like a clown.
3. Your natural skin colouring will affect they way blush shows up on your face. So if you are darker skinned just be aware you may have to use a heavier hand for blushes that are relatively light or choose blushes that will show up better on your skin tone.

Also you said you were thinking of breaking down and trying Orgasm - I think testing out blushes at the counter is a GREAT idea. Blushes have a funny way of showing up completely different on the face than what they look like in the pan. HTH

Oh, I totally don't doubt that when applied correctly and in the right shade, blush can be really nice. But if makeup is the essence of what is personal, I wonder if some people get away without using blush. As in, they just find they don't need it, don't miss it, and don't like it when they use it.

I'll probably get around to trying NARS' orgasm at some point - I've heard too much about it to not try it. There's a Sin/Laguna duo I've been eyeing for a while, and I might give that whirl too. I dunno. It's just one of those 'Meh' items for me, and I wanted to know if anyone else felt the same.

As an aside, I run quite warm normally, so my face is normally either a bit flushed/peaked or red, especially in the spring/summer. That alone makes me feel like blush isn't necessary. In the autumn/winter though, I find I start wondering about blush again. During the British autumn/winter, there's hardly any sunshine (and anyway in the winter it's only daylight for about six hours), and anything that might make my face glow at such a time is worth trying out.

But do you use it daily now? Do you have lots of blushes, or just a few? Is it standard in your makeup routine, or is it an optional touch?

I've tried many different types, most aimed at natural looks - even two Cliniques that are notoriously neutral in colour. I have three sets of brushes, all MAC, and I either use the 187 or the 129 to apply blush. When I apply blush, I apply on either the apple of the cheek (by smiling like a fool in the mirror) or by tracing the contour of my cheek. I stay away from going to the hairline, and I blend like crazy into the foundation. Then I'd finish with a dusting of Guerlain meteorites in Mythic 01, which gives me the 'glow' that I want, but I never really warmed up to the blush colour, despite the 'glow' on top.

A little while ago, I found that if I skipped the blush completely and just applied the Meteorites powder alone, over my foundation, I liked the look more, and I didn't feel so clownlike.

I don't think it's my technique that's wrong necessarily, though that could be some of the problem; I would certainly agree the colours I've tried haven't given me the colour payoff I want. So maybe it's just a product thing. But I just wanted to know if anyone else skips blush despite knowing how to use it, because they prefer the blush-less look.

And maybe I'm being cheap and don't want to buy yet another blush, that I end up returning or not using because it's fails to give me the everyday natural, glowy look I wanted. I get sick and tired of makeup products that I *think* look okay at the counter - and be told by a MA that "it looks fabulous darling" - only to find a few days later that it's just not what I want. Meh.
