goshhhhh girl...ur story is eerily similar to mine.I used to loatheeee blush, thinking it it makes me look incredibly fake.Believe me,and im not kidding,it makes a differencer...biggg time...if applied correctly. As in,right colour, right brush, just like someone pointed out above.I just got sprinsheen...its gorgousss wen applied with a lighjt hand with my new 187.And the beauty powder suggestion's great.I love barbie's pearl sunshine.Remember the key is to be subtle.Good luck!

It may well be force of long habit, but I always think that my face looks dull and "unfinished" without blush.
There's certainly no law that says that you must wear blush, but I think most women look their best with a least a touch of blush.
If you like the way you look without blush, then by all means, skip it, and save your time, money, and effort for something else.
But if you really want to get it right, I'd suggest investing in the best brush you can afford, and try to find a sheer blush in a color as close as possible to the color that you naturally blush.
I'm probably the wrong person to be advising you, though. I own eleven MAC blushes, among them Dollymix, Frankly Scarlet, Deep Pink, Magenta, and Lovecrush. (NW15; brunette; green eyes). I'm always careful to apply a light coat of translucent powder before blush, so that the color doesn't "grab" on my oily skin.

I wasn't a big blush user either at one time....but it was b/c I was wearing the wrong formula. Powder blushes just aren't for me. I only wear the stain/gel formulas now - TARTE cheek stain is my hg! I even use gel bronzer as blush sometimes. Try experimenting with different shades/formulas. I'm sure there's one out there that you'll love!

I'm not huge on blush either, but I can't live without bronzer. I know a lot of girls who use only bronzer to contour their face, because it can look a lot more natural than blush.

I used to be a no blush person too (and I'm also around NC30/35). You just have to find a blush to compliment your skincolor and learn to apply it so that it gives a healthy flush/glow to your skin.

For starters who aren't into too much color from a blush - definitely give blushbaby a try - it's my favorite MAC neutral blush (you'd have to be a genius to overdo it) - it applies very sheer and gives the skin a healthy flush (without looking like you put blush on).

Have blush on definitely completes any makeup look. Also give 187 brush a try, it's the best for applying blush to give an airbrushed and natural look.

Blush is not for everyone. My skin is very pale and has a reddish tone to it. If I use the wrong color/shade of blush I look clownish! I recommend using a very soft and light bronzer. That will give you a sutle color, but not the pink/red tones most blushes give.

I used to never wear blush...or anything much, for that matter.

If you want to start wearing blush, you should choose a more natural looking pink (maybe a peachy color?).

No - what are they, and what do they do? I've seen others mention them, but I never considered them as a 'blush' so I didn't think to research them.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I can be really, really picky, and it doesn't help that I'm tight with my money. Thanks for being patient with me!

It depends on the shade of the Beauty Powder and your skin tone. Some can be used as all over powders, some can be used as subtle blushes, and some can be used as highlighters. You can get some ideas in this thread:

My blush colllection (if you would call it that) are basically the free Clinique ones they give out with purchase. They are a good size...i would try one of those first before taking the plunge.

I never really wore blush, so when I first started I went with Tarte's cheek stain and used my fingers to blend. As I got used to it then I switched to Milani's Luminous (dupe for Nars Orgasm) and know I own only two blushes from Mac, Melba and Prism. I'm NC30 (asian). Definetly play around with a few, use a light hand and have an absolutely wonderful blush brush! It makes the biggest difference!

Hi yah!! I'm an NC40. I'm asian but alot of people confuse me to be mixed. I think it's because of my super curly hair and body type I'm just not one at all..he he anyways to your point of blush, i was like you a few weeks ago. I found that all the blushes I wore made me look "off". Everyone recommended Dollymix, Nars Orgasm or Laguna. I went an actually tried these out and it looked too harsh on me. I typically blush easily so I couldn't wear them at all. So I went and got this peachy one MAC - Pinch O' Peach and I got my blush brush and apply it. It goes on light but you just keep building until you like it to how much blush you want showing. It's great for contouring and after only three weeks of finding it. I wish I found it earlier! I'm up in Canada so the blush brush I use is the Shopper Drug Mart's Quo line (the one that looks like a skunk brush).

I'm Asian, about NC37 and LOVE Nars sin/casino duo. Perhaps you can go to the counter and ask them to try it on your face, that way you won't be disappointed. My recs for a subtle natural look are Trace gold, Springsheen/Nars orgasm and the beauty powder

I'm not a big fan of blush, but I think I need to experiment with it a bit more-with different colours.
