It depends where you buy things too. I think I always get 9.00% and in the loop they tack on an extra % for an "entertainment tax"

I hope it goes through soon, I've been hearing about it for months. ANd lucky me (although bad for my bank account) the Lincoln Park one is supposdely supposed to open a block from my house

Well yeah. But that's only .25% not 2% higher... it's crazy.

Out here I can get as low as 6.50% in some places.

Chicago is crazy. I went to Walgreens last week and I was taxed 3 different rates on my purchases. One item was 2%, one was 9% and the other was 12%. Gotta love it.

Yessums. But around here it's 8.75%... I'm saying if I go down south more or west it's 6.50% or somewhere along those lines.

Taxes down the street from me are around 7.5% but if I go to Orland Mall (which is where I work) it's 8.50%-8.75% depending on the store. And around the mall it's been rising.
