Depending on the store, you usually start out around $13.50/hour working at a counter as a counter manager. I'm not sure what beauty advisors start out as. I heard MAC employees get $17.00/hr, but I could be wrong.

! If you are scared or un-sure about giving her an exact figure you can tell her that's it's negotiable and be honest and just ask what they usually start people off at. I'm sure that most people who are asked this question don't know exactly what number to give. You can always give a ball-park and say something like "I was figuring it would be somewhere between $xx.xx and $xx.xx, what do you normally start at?"
Good luck!

i believe the MAC MAs start out at $12.50/hr...but i could be wrong. i'd just say you're looking for something between $10-15/hr

don't limit yourself by throwing numbers out. it does depend on region and the volume count of your store (how much they sell annually, etc. depicts this), just ask her what is standard with your experience. at the macys' here, the rate is higher than at nordstrom, which also gets commission, so that also makes a difference. hth

Congrats and I have to go with d_flawless on this one. Don't throw out any numbers cause that limits you. Ask what the starting rate is and go from there. Most people won't tell you what they make cause that's not something people do in good taste (not just at MAC but in life in general) but don't limit yourself try to get an idea from the manager.
