Re: What am I doing? I don't know.

I know this is going to might sound crazy, but during the toughest times of my life, I always felt better doing something nice for others. Have you tried volunteering? I volunteered at an animal shelter, and going there and helping the animals and making a difference to them always brightened up my day, no matter what else was going wrong. It sounds corny, but it always makes my heart feel better to do something nice for someone else, especially if I can see that I've made a difference to them, even a small one.
I also know that, for me, just being at home and not doing anything makes me feel lazy. I think it's great to go out and do things (getting a job was a great start!) and to have a sort of reward system for getting things done. I love the idea of the nice shower gels - it starts off the day on a happy note.
Also, try making a list of good things about yourself, and refer to it whenever you start feeling really down on yourself. If you can't, ask other people to help you! You'd be surprised the positive things people notice about you that you don't see because of low self-esteem. I used to have low self-esteem, and I can tell you, it makes a huge difference in how I feel every day to not be like that anymore. I changed my attitude towards myself and I also changed other things about myself, not so that anyone else would like me better, but so that I would like me better. I had to temporarily give up going to college to do it, but I tried to change the things about me that were making me genuinely unhappy. I moved out of my parents' house and focused on trying to become the person that I wanted to be. I made choices that weren't always easy, and some that I felt guilty about for quite a while, but I'm glad I made them, because I refuse to live my life in a way that won't make me happy. I gave up a higher paying job to stay at the job I liked, with people I cared about, where I really felt like I was making a difference. I've watched other people put things like money above their happiness with their life, and seen them be unhappy about their lives for years. I decided, with the support of my fiance, not to take that path. I choose to live my life in a way that makes me truly happy - so that I don't look back on my life with regret. In order to do that, though, I had to decide that I was worth it - worth making the changes for, worth more than what I could earn, worth being happy. I hope that you feel better about yourself - it made a world of difference for me.
I hope you feel better soon.
