Post Office Problems

I know its completely normal to occasionally to get your neighbor's mail sent to you instead of them. It's probably happened at least once to everyone of us. But the problem where I live is that its almost constantly happening! My house number is 118, I'll get a letter in the mail addressed to the house number 111 on my street! We always return the mail to the correct house the next day when we have time. We don't mind doing that but we have had to do it a lot since moving here. It barely ever happened at my old residence.

But the thing that really irked me was that on the 22nd, I had helped my dad order about $202 worth of merchandise off of amazon.com. We got 2 portable dvd players and 2 flash drive usb thingies for an amazing price. We got these for my cousins in china as a gift. After everything with amazon.com went through, they sent us an email saying that the estimated delivery date was giong to be on the 30th. Since we did the free shipping option it would take longer but that was no problem. We also received a tracking number to track our package. Well on Thursday (the 29th) I logged on at night to check the status of it since it was suppose to be here the next day and the status was DELIVERED?! Well I asked my parents and went outside to look and there was no package. I just brushed it off as having to do with the bad weather here and that I should just give it another day or so.

Just about 20 minutes ago, I get a knock on the door. It was a guy (I'm assuming he was a neighbor and lived on this street also) with my package. He asked if it was ours and I said yes. I asked him since he wasn't in post office uniform, if it had come to HIS house? He told me yes.

This just makes me so mad! I know that post office employees have to work real hard in extreme weather throughout the year to get us our mail and I greatly appreciate that. But with the amount of wrong address mail we've gotten is ridiculous. Now they sent our package that clearly states our address to someone else's house?! That stuff is worth over $202! Thats a lot of money in this economy. Thank goodness the guy was nice enough to return it to us or we would of probably been screwed out of money and our items. Since the status on the tracking had said it was delivered, amazon.com would of probably not believed us if we had never gotten the package and complained to them. We would of just been SOL. Plus my cousins would of never received the gifts we had promised them. We actually currently are STILL waiting on another package that was sent from china to come in the mail too. I know international shipping can take a while but this is really taking really long. I'm just afraid that the same thing had had happened to this package and that we won't be as lucky this time to have it returned to us.

I just hate thinking about all the other things they could be sending to other people that belong to us like bill statements, and credit card stuff. With identity theft and fraud at its highest these days its a scary thought.

I'm just not sure what to do about this?

I know, I get so weird about forwarding my mail , that's why I HATE moving. I am always worried about having account balances and shit send to my old apartments.

I wish there were easier ways, I mean I forward my mail for a year, and I know there is still shit that I don't get.

The package thing would really piss me off! People are sketchy these days and they'll keep that shit. UGHHHH makes me so mad.

Moving is such a b*tch when it comes to mail! When we moved to the house we are living in now, we had to call each company individually to tell them and to keep making sure our balances were all paid off. The house didn't sell til at least a year later so we'd occasionally go there and check the mail too. But that's not an option if someone has already moved in or if it's too far from your new residence.

I'm so lucky that it wasn't anything like MAC that I had ordered haha. Now that would cause some serious problems
angry.gif
lol.

I was just so surprised I even got my amazon.com package back. Cause you know theres going to be a few people out there that will see a package on their porch and be like "oh, this isn't for me." and just decide to open it, and if they like what they see they'll keep it! Then they'll act like nothing ever happened. Shady people!

Now I'm wondering if the same thing had happened to a paycheck I was suppose to receive for a job orientation at Macy's (sadly the job fell through). Cause I had went for the orientation before christmas and still haven't gotten jack shit in the mail!

Oh hell NO! Did you call Macys!? That would be difficult for someone to have cashed it. I wonder if it just got lost. I would call them. maybe they can track if it was ever cashed and if not they can void that one and send you another one! I would keep up on that girl!

And LUCKILY I havent had any issues with packages and I've ordered a LOT lately. Ebay stuff, Etsy stuff so thank GOD it all came to me. Otherwise I'd have to smack-a-ho.

Well the thing is that I had applied for a position at the maternity department cause that department was specifically hiring. They are separate from the actual Macy's, like they just lease space in a Macy's store to sell their products. The two companies that sell their products there are Maternity Motherhood and Mimi Motherhood. I wouldn't get a pay check from Macy's but instead from Maternity Motherhood and Mimi Motherhood.

I went back three weeks ago but the manager for the maternity department wasn't there so I had the secretary from human resources leave a message for her. I go no phone call or anything back. So two weeks later I went back and the manager was there. She said that she was surprised that I still haven't gotten it yet and that the lady she would have to talk to was off that day. But that she would call her the next day and have tell her to call me. Well again NOTHING! Another week has rolled by and I got nothing in the mail and not even a phone call back. I'm going back cause I need to do some shopping haha, as soon as my strep throat clears up and seeing whats up. My mom keeps telling me that maybe they won't pay me. Which would be complete bullshit cause the manager on that day of orientation told me that I would get paid for this.

I'm really uneasy about ordering from ebay cause their are powersellers there that have good feedback but at the same time have a lot of negative feedback from unlucky people who either never got their items or it took way too long to receive them. Ebay is pretty much my last resort to look for something. MAC online has been having problems ever since the F&F sale too also and there have been many complains. I guess I'm lucky that I didn't order from them then?

definitely make a report to your local post office....
i had the same prob living in an apt a while back, and my columbia house dvd's would never show up, and my account got cancelled! mostly i think because we had residential style mailboxes with no locks on them, dumbass owners, right! since then i have rented a box at the ups store but it does cost me a pretty penny. i ordered Mac a week or two ago and they sign for the package & hold it, such a great service, since i'm rarely home when the mail comes anyways, and i don't want anyone stealing my Mac!
and report your lost check asap, so they can stop pay, and reissue it.
good luck!

YOU DEFINITELY get paid for orientation.
They can't NOT pay you.
That is part of your training.

I'd keep up with it, keep calling. Call the corporate!

Theres a post office inside the mall that I live by, I'm going to go there and make a complaint or at least find a number I could call in to make one. This is just getting absurd. If they would of checked the address which is was electronically printed on the package and on practically ever letter we get in the mail, they could of realized that they got the wrong house! All I can do now is hope that no letters with any personal information have been sent to someone else, and that the package from china comes in soon.

I'm def going back and Idc if I seriously bug the hell out of human resources or the maternity department manager. Cause I want my frickin check! I got the feeling that maybe the manager didn't even log my hours in which is why I haven't gotten one yet. I'm going to go back two more times and if that isn't cleared up I'm going to some how have to find corporates number. I swear if it was anyone of them, they'd be doing the same and bitching probably even more about not getting their paycheck!

OMG you could probably sue them and get some free MAC?!

winks.gif

That would make up for it, eh?!

Yeah I would say the manager might not have done something. But I would figure something out, call and complain, do you have anything proving that you went to the orientation? Any training packets or any paperwork you had filled out?

FREE MAC?!!!

I love free anything hahaha, I think we all do!

I just have no idea why the manager if she did screw me over, why she would do it? I mean we got along so well during the interview and orientation. She even said that she really wanted to hire me during our interview too. But who knows, people are weird. But nope I dont think I have anything to really prove I worked there
ssad.gif
. I did fill out a bunch of paperwork and enter a ton of information in the computer they had there specifically for employees of those two maternity companies.

My mom told me I should just give up since it's just causing me so much trouble. The paycheck would only be like around $22 anyways but still thats money that I had earned and was promised!

Holy crap! Well it's a good thing you have nice neighbors. I get wrong mail delivered here from time to time and even though it's supposed to go to my next door neighbor, I always leave it in the box so the post man is aware that there was an error. Definitely report it on the usps.com site and also let them know about the countless other times you received wrong mail, too.

Anyway, that is CRAZY and I was so happy when I got to the part where your neighbor brought the package to you.

Definitely report it via the form on the usps.com site. If you call them direct, they may brush it off, but if you document it on the site, they will have to take action, plus they'll get back to you on the steps they took.

Here is the link to the contact form on the usps.com web site:

https://hdusps.esecurecare.net/cgi-b...QLIykpj&xssl=1

Add as much information as possible including the tracking number. I would also tell them the value of the package and the fact that your nice neighbor had the decency to deliver the package to the right address (when they should have).

Here's to no more lost packages! LOL

Good luck!

Thanks for the link!

I was just afraid they'd brush me off too. I mean its a pretty big box, how the hell do you not look over the address before delivering it?! It's more understandable with letters since I think there all pretty much sorted out before delivery and yes mistakes can happen (just quite a lot here). Is there a way to somehow track down an internationally shipped item? I'm sure that since its being sent from china from our relatives they didn't have a tracking number put on it.

I know! Not only did they miss the address but the name, too. Unless you and your neighbor have the same names (which I doubt), there is no excuse why that should have ever happened!

For international packages, they usually have a customs form (with number) on them declaring what's inside, the declared value, etc. etc. Usually the sender gets a copy of the form or maybe the number is on the receipt when they paid for shipment. It's not really a tracking number though because I think it only gets scanned when it leaves the country of origin and when it comes into the country it's being delivered to. If you're waiting for something from them and it's been over 3 weeks or so, you can let your local post office know and see what they can do.

My dad's name and neighbor's names (which I don't even know haha!) are soo not even close. My dad has a pretty asian/foreign name. The closest asian people from us aren't even on the same street we live on. So someone or somebody from this postal office is slacking a bit...TOO MUCH lol!

It's gonna be a pain in the ass to have to call my relatives in china and try to get that info from them. I guess I'll just give it a few more days before going to the post office and seeing what they could do.

Omg, I know exactly how you feel. Ever since moving into our new place I don't receive half of my mail. I opened a new checking account and my paperwork along with my debit card got sent to someone else. I didn't know about it till 2 months later. Even now we can go days without receiving any mail.

We have the same kind of problems
We've had delivered enveloppes that weren't ours, I gave it to the right person... But now, my ''return of taxes'' check never made it home!

I'm mad, because I know somebody on the street has my mail, probable threw it away or something, and now my personnal infos are somewhere on the loose. I'm a freak on that, always scared of being frauded, and now my important papers are missing.

The lady next door came to give us papers she received and she said that this postman always do that.

I'm going to complain

rimberry: I'd seriously freak the f*ck out (excuse my french lol) if my debit card or information was sent to someone else. Who knows if the person who received it is going to be honest and decent enough to not take a peak or attempt to steal your information. I currently am suppose to be receiving another credit card in the mail any day now and this whole thing just makes me shudder! Another horrible aspect of this is not receiving your billing statements. The late fees company's charge is seriously ridiculous (usually around $15 for us). It sucks even more if you try talking to them and telling them all the time that its not your fault cause you didn't get your mail, they'll start thinking your a liar and will refuse to take the late fee off. They'll most likely just suggest you sign up for their online payment program which may not be an option for some people, its not for us.

Willa: Fraud is getting so horribly bad these days. I heard something along the lines that every second someones identity gets stolen. It's not just credit card and bank information, they LITERALLY steal your identity. They can walk around town doing whatever they please and claim to be you. It's sometimes extremely hard to prove that your innocent if your a victim of identity theft cause these criminals are getting better and better at this. So I think we have every right to be alarmed and pissed off about this type of thing. You aren't even safe throwing your junk mail in the trash cause crooks can easily go through your trash and find that one letter they need.

Is there a number you could call to get those tax forms resent to you?

Your complaint will hold up much better I think if you have your neighbors and other people in the area you live in also complain. I don't think I can get my neighbors to do that, I don't really talk to any of them (I like my privacy).

Just remember the movie with Sandra Bullock, the one where she finds a sing in the bottom of a web page that leads to a page with confidential infos, and then gets her identity stolen...
nonono.gif

Anyway, yesterday I called to tell them I didnt receive my check, they cancelled the other, but the fact is : some of my infos are somewhere floating...

Me and my man always shrink our documents in the machine (we have one at home). I never throw away something with my name on it, even junk mail!

For the post problem, I think I'll start a petition or something.
We're having our anual meeting (we live in condos) next month, and we are presenting ourselves for the secretary job... I guess we'll be able to get some names to present to the post office so they change the postman

I haven't seen that movie, don't think I should the paranoia will kill me lol!

I've been considering getting a shredder but I'm horribly broke and cheap at this moment, I've been trying to come up with other creative ways to destroy documents before throwing them in the trash. But those crooks are quite sneaky!

It sucks that you really can't do much at this point since those forms are just out somewhere. I hate when stuff is beyond your control
angry.gif
. What I've heard from others is to check your credit reports for any suspicious stuff on there and just be on the look out if anything weird comes up period whether it's with bills, credit cards, bank, etc.

And I say YAY for a new mailman! But the problem might not just be him but other postal staff which will just make it even more difficult to deal with. But they really do need to be alerted if they haven't already been that there's an on going issue with mail delivery. I was at the post office yesterday but there was only 15 minutes left before they were about to close and we had to get a package shipped asap at that moment. So I guess some other time? I frequent the mall quite a bit which is where the office is located.

Btw, the package that we were expecting from China just came in today! It was perfectly fine, undamaged and unopened.

Ugh, I feel for you. My sister moved and for some reason they started sending my mail to her new address... in another city... our names don't even start with the same letter...

Other than that, I have to be very careful because when I'm in Germany and send stuff home or fill out forms, they'll always send it to a different house (1 and 7 look completely different). Once I mailed myself some wine and my mom some nice collector's dolls and this little girl down the street had received the package and wanted to keep the dolls. Good thing she didn't open the wine.
