Question about a 242 brush I received...

Hi all,
This is only my 2nd post here, I'm hoping someone can help me.
I swap on makeupalley and recently got my end of a swap from a very nice girl, problem is I think the brush might be fake.

I searched pics of the 242 brush and found one picture that looked like mine, from another MUA user. This is the picture that resembles the brush I got: http://img.makeupalley.com/9/0/5/7/418311.jpeg
And this is what most 242 brush pics seem to look like:

It has a slightly glittery handle, and "JAPAN" is etched on the end of the brush. I have other MAC brushes (but not enough to be an expert), this one just feels weird to me. I'm checking here because I don't want to confront her before I get other opinions.

I just looked at my 242 that I got from MAC and the writing itself is closer to the ferrules. I'd be a little concerned about this one.
There is a lot of wealth of information about fake brushes on Specktra. Here's a lengthy thread dedicated to fake MAC brushes.

Does anyone else have any opinions? I'd like to be able to show this thread to the swapper to show her why I have suspicions.

I don't mean to throw any flies in the ointment but I have a 236 (disc) brush I bought from a CCO last year with printing like the 1st picture and "France" on the handle.

I've looked at 16 of my full size brushes and the printing is close to the ferrules as shown in the 2nd picture w/either "France" or "Japan" on the handle. ALL were purchased from maccosmetics.com or a MAC counter.

IDK, though; maybe those who have brushes older than my 2 yr old brushes can shed some light on why the 236 I bought from a CCO has printing like the one in the 1st picture.

Thanks everyone, I've emailed her to ask where she got it, hopefully we will resolve this.

While the MUA pic was blurry, the brush looked like it may have been an older one. The older brushes have a larger font and it's more in the center of the handle whereas the newer brushes have the logo close to the ferrule. A lot of the brushes found at CCO's are older and have the larger font/mid handle placement. I hope this helps some.
