She won't raise it to a certain point and then go, oh well, i suppose this is a lot of work, forget this gig and then piss off. Nature can be cruel, but people are crueler.
All that being said, this is an instance taht really re-inforces my feelings of mistrust of teh human race. It also makes me feel for their other human victims even more.
I watched a doc. about feral children a while ago... i dont remember what it was called, but it showcased a girl who was very severly abused, ran away (i think?) and ended up being raised by dogs. She behaved exactly like a dog. It was very sad to watch. i don't remember if she was beyond helping or not...
I saw that and I'm pretty sure it was about Genie. She never recovered because she had passed critical learning points in her life and so she was never able to learn like a regular child with decent parenting.
I think occurrences like that are more common than we think... My father used to work at a home for the mentally retarded. One woman could only "baa" like a sheep. She was born retarded, and her parents were so ashamed of her that they kept her in a barn with sheep.
in the same doc. there was another boy that was left to be raised by dogs. He was a lot younger, maybe 6. I don't remember which country (it was in eastern europe though). It was kind of like a ghost town, over populated with strays.. again, i don't remember what happened with him. I think he was able to progress some, but i can't remember very well.
The biological mother got a ridiculous slap on the wrist for this beyond inhumane (too mild of a word) treatment of her own child. In exchange for giving up all parental rights, she gets probation, house arrest and community service? That's punishment?
child abuseres are some of the lowest of the low. Even other criminals aknoweldge that. This woman should be jailed at the very very least.
I saw the 2nd half of Oprah. I just so happy that she found a family that loves her so much. They'll never be able to reverse the damage, but they can hold her hand along the way, and show her what it is like to be loved and respected.
My biggest concern for her is what will happen why her parents are too old to care for her?
