I don't know how common it is to name your dog "Marley", but I think it's common to name your animals after pop stars or famous people/things. My friend name her cat Bono and another friend named all 4 cats after the Beatles.

If you do want to help dogs or cats or birds, shelters are really hard up and at least you know the shelter exists.

She should just setup with her vet where people can contribute to her bill through the vet or call and verify the pet bill/story.

For people that can and want to help, it might give them some peace of mind.
