Paint Pots work much better for me than shadesticks..
Shadesticks are on the dry side and always tug at my skin which makes it difficult to get a smooth, even application. They are also difficult to blend with. It does act as a good base though for keeping shadow in place for extended periods of time.
Paintpots on the other hand have a much creamier consistency and are so much easier to blend and work with. So much easier to get a nice, even application with. And I think they also make an excellent base for eyeshadow.
I think the trick is to not apply too much product when using any product as an eyeshadow base (be it shadesticks, UDPP, paint pots, cream shadows, etc.), otherwise your eyeshadow is bound to crease/fade no matter what. I even find that when I have clumsily applied more UDPP than the usual, my eyeshadow tends to fade faster. You only need to use a little bit at a time!
